What 480mm radiator for 8 yateloons

I have 8 medium speed yate loons(1500rpms I believe) and will be using custom shrouds with a filter(panty hose ftw!) if that was your setup what radiator would you recommend? It will be used to cool the i7 920 in my sig

If the fans are at full speed, GTX480.

That's not going to benefit much from a fan speed of 1650 RPM over any other low or high FPI rad unless I'm wrong I don't remember the GTX Xtreme scaling until 1800-2000RPM +

Push+pull helps immensely on the GTX. With push+pull, I'd put the pivot (where it matches and then beats the SR-1/RX/PA) at like 1000RPM.

I'm guessing Swiftech if they're not at full speed?

Maybe below 800RPM or so. GTX with push+pull is extremely strong even down to low speed fans.

Swiftech is a great option when you consider the price...but if you're going purely on performance, it's merely a 'good' option (IMO).

Any rad can use yate loons, just depends on the speed you want them to run at which benefits the rad you pick..

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

I'll be folding 24/7 so yeah pretty much fans will run full speed

Bump before I pull the trigger on a sr1 gtx480

Not SR-1! SR-1 won't scale as well with push+pull or fan RPM. GTX is the one you want

Sorry, dont mean to double post but at your fan speeds it's really a matter of aesthetics which radiator you get.

If you were running higher speed fans I'd say GTX480.

Personally I love my XSPC RX. Matte black with a square end tank.

I have to agree with Vapor on this one... GTX will scale much better than any other rad with increased air flow from push+pull. On the V1 test bench the GTX started taking off around 1200RPM and is looking even stronger on the V2 rad test bench. With what you have described, GTX is the clear choice IMO.

Like i said any rad will run any fan its just a matter of reading the specs to see whether the rad has low FPI such as the SR1's meaning undervolt some low speed yate's or w/e you go with..

Like I said, if you had 8 med speed yateloons running close to 100% what rad would you go with

more fin density + cheating static... there is no brainer.

My vote is added with skinnee and vapors.

    GTX all the way.

But that aint your typical quiet rad.

But OP... once again watercooling is not about adding the biggest and best.
You need to take calculations of flow rate, and heat load.

A typical 120x3 can handle roughly 450W of heat.
Water moving @ 1gpm can hold roughly 350W of heat b4 it goes up 1C.

Now do you really need a radiator that powerful, in respect to your system?
Personally having more then 1C as a gradiant is a no no in my book.

But skinnee and vapor will tell you, i am one of the guys in the forum who tries to build a reinforced soap box made out of carbon nano tubes this time, so skinnee cant smash it.

    :P

Meaning what exactly are you trying to achieve here?

I'm trying to build ahead, right now it's just for my f@h hobbies with my CPU but will want to add a GPU or two to the loop down the road

so were talking about your entire computer lighted up.

which we call the worst case scenario in LCing on a single looped system.

As i said in a eariler post... water has a specific heat carrying capacity.
In a closed loop the entire temperature is usually at equalibirum until you exceed carrying capacity.

Once u exceed that u get whats known as a temp gradiant.

1C is not bad... 2C is getting there.. 3C is bad...
Basically this means.. the difference between the inlet and outlet.

id honestly say get something bigger... trust me you want your hearing... 2 MCR320's side by side would be more ideal and cost the same. Also this way u have an avenue for dual loop upgrade in the future.

    480GTX does what on average?

Assume... you have that many fans and it does do 600W @ 4d/t.

    :X
You still got a temp gradient under the model that everything u have will be lighted up. :\

Your system would have very little room to upgrade... because of your holding capacity in flow.

But at this point, i assume there will be no future upgrade on the system.

so you're saying one 480mm is not enough for a i7 920 and a future GPU? how about this, one 480mm for now with just a CPU. then if I DO decide to include a GPU in the loop I can add another 480mm :p
