I have the same controller here, but the resistors hit the soldering points of the PCB which is a possible problem which is why I didnt use it yet. Unfortunately I cannot see if your unit has any more clearance between the resistors and the PCB from the angle you shot the picture.

Does the controller make any noise? Thats my biggest concern.
I can take fan noise, but the super high pitched noise some rheobus fan controllers make when turning down the voltage drives me nuts. The FC2 did that, I'm hoping it was the caps, and the solid state caps on the FC8 would solve that, but I want to make sure.

No. The sample that I got didn't had any noise with our without fans. And I can recognize that high frequency noise that some products usually produce. Like PSUs.
