New build reboots during windows experance index.

It will reboot on the cpu part of the test near the end, also random reboots without warning when test is not running. Like someone pulled the plug out of the wall.
After it reboots this message will show "DQS training failed on previous boot, Revert to slower DRAM speed"

These are the parts I used for build.

This is what I tried so far.

I tried one stick or ram at a time, same problem with both sticks and I ran memtest on one of them for 3 hrs.

Cleared CMOS,flashed bios and reformatted windows.

Ran furmark for 30 min no problems.

Hitachi Drive Fitness Test checked out ok.

Ran prime95 for 12+ hrs cpu temps stayed 65c or below no reboot.

Tried running the test without the network card and dvd drive.

Tried removing the 11.2 and loading some driver from windows update.

I spent time googleing and found a couple threads with Biostar motherboards with this problem. They both said they changed a bios setting and it solved it. I tried changing some settings but I didn't have any luck. I think they both had older motherboards with different bios settings.

I don't know what to try next.

I will have to find a power supply to check it.

The windows experience test will pass if I run prime95 first. I don't know if that means anything.

try upping the ram and cpu voltage a little, if u can pass if u run prime 1st it sounds like a cold voltage problem were u get droop on load when 1st booted

How much should I turn up voltage? I don't know about overclocking.

I wounder if this has something to do with Biostar G.P.U utility (Green Power Utility) I tried disabling G.P.U Phase control in bios but no luck.
This guy sounded like the same problem. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...d-cdc84b8f592e

Maybe there is a setting in bios I am overlooking?

i dont know what your VID is but raise the cpu by 0.025 and try 1.55V ram. also try disabling cool and quiet and make sure that u have the proper amd chipset drivers/IGP installed

http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloa...d_win7-64.aspx and get the chipset driver under optional (and the ahci if u use that)

Although upping the voltage might cover up the symptom you are better off determining the cause. Especially for a brand new system where all the components are under warranty.

Thanks for quick replies. It crashed/rebooted while I was just looking at drivers, then I installed that sb driver and it wouldn't boot. I had to run repair windows and restore.
I guess I will try to reinstall drivers once its done restoring.

I might have another hard drive to try if you think its worth while. I don't have a power supply or cpu on hand to try.

I am pretty sure it was a bad power supply. I installed another one and I can't get it to do the reboot/crash thing, even after a bunch of cold boots.

This guy on newegg had the same problem, same cpu as me. His review..

    "Pros: None - not impressed.

Cons: My build problems started with mysterious crashes in Windows 7 64-Bit. Every time I ran the Windows 7 Customer Experience Index the computer would crash to a black screen during the graphics tests and restart. After a lot of wasted time upgrading and replacing the graphics drivers, until I noticed that my Watt-meter would peak at about 112 Watts on the AC side of the power supply during the Win7 benchmark. This is when the +12 VDC bus voltage would collapse. Installed a Rosewill 430 Watt RG430-S12 I had in stock and the crashes disappeared. The benchmark was able to complete and the system is now stable.

Other Thoughts: So an Antec 400 Watt Eco power supply could not drive an AMD Athlon 640 (90 Watt) processor in a microATX system with ATI onboard 4250 graphics. This is far from what I would call a performance system. With 4.0 GB of DDR3 shared RAM, One WD 640 GB black drive, two Asus DVD-RW drives and one floppy drive. Hardly what I would call a difficult load to power. Note: the load when idling is only 56 Watts! That's all. Either I got a dog, or Antec is vastly over-stating the specs on this power supply. Won't touch this product ever again!"

Congrats! It's really frustrating when your brand-spankin'-new system doesn't work.

Any opinion on what I should do now for a power supply? I really don't want to put another one of those back in there. After shipping and neweggs restocking fee I will get like $12 back. $17 for shipping, does that sound right?
Even if I send it to antec for rma I could pay $17 for shipping and have the same problem.
I want to replace it with something quiet and better quality.

if u just bought it call newegg they will cover shipping or comp it, or give u a discount on a new one, but make sure to call them. if u still need a low watt unit i would go for an ocz modxstream/stealthxstream2 or a corsair

I have it all back together.
I used Biostar's Toverclocker utility when trying to diagnose the problem I was having. I would like to return everything back to stock but not sure if it is.

Can anyone tell by picture if its back to stock or do I have to remove that toverclocker utility and clear cmos?

I signed up to this forum specifically to thank 455Olds for posting this. I had the exact same problem with Antec's Neo Eco 400C power supply unit. Computer ran fine (built it for work, and I don't do anything that taxing on it), but whenever I tried to run the Windows Experience Index Assessment, it would reboot every time at the exact same point--the CPU encryption test, about 2/3 of the way through the WEI. Did all kinds of stress testing, nothing else seemed to make it fail. Finally hooked up the HiPro PSU from the old computer and it sailed through the WEI. RMA'd and purchased another model power supply, and I have no complaints now.

So, thanks 455Olds for posting this and helping me to figure out which component was the problem. Sadly, that Neo Eco 400C isn't doing anything good to Antec's reputation.
