pencil or VR across those resistors should give the desired results to increasing OCP limit

MSI would have to report before and try hard mod, and not wait until you send emails that do not work.

    Someone more him past?
It isn't MSI's fault if you want to mod your Card!

Nobody told you that u have to do this! Like all the time with a Hardmod!
So mate blame you and not MSI.

If you have tested your card and you have seen that the OCP isn't the problem (OCP problems cause in Black Screens at high load) why you should mod your card?

Have you done all exaktly after the guide? And what happend then?
Burned? Just no more picture? Have you desoldered the mod and tested again?

Hey bro. That makes it sound like the switch itself is killing the cards.... that's not what you mean, is it?

Never had any issue with OCP switch on Lightning or Hawk.

i know it sounds wierd but i guess it my inexpierance with it.

was also sent this pm (which will stay pm in name) from msi guy after i told him about how my second hawk died with just jumper... was late notice then too

    msi guy
"We just found out a bug on OCP unlocker, please do not use this function! "

so as you can see thats why i said what i said not just out of the blue or anything..i would have tested it 6 ways from tuesday before it made retail

this card np with switch, was like first drive after big wreck

have not tested mod yet to busy killing my 3rd hawk not switch, was all me on that one.

    sry for ot

getting the 580 ready now. i only test without pencil mod first
    then
ER1091 from 9.09k to sightly lower resistance

ER1103 and ER1059 from 48.7k to sightly lower resistance
and will gadually get lower if it helps all while i raise core voltage.

With a variable resistor in parallel, or did you solder a fixed resistor in parallel, to get the 2k?
So do you have now 2k resistors, or something in between the stock value and the 2k?

    Thanks!

Of course. Card half-dead for no reason.

    Just shorted the two resistors.

These are the same mods like on DCU II: GPU OCP per channel and overall OCP.

Ah, this confirms my assumption, but I am at work and have no chance to measure the mods on DCU and Lightning.

So we just have to short these three resisitors to make them zero ohm?

Because on DCU there are just two resistors...

    Thanks for sharing massman

    - Short ER1091 for OCP per channel
    - Short ER1059 for OCP overall

Don't know why they also indicated the third one ... I just shorted these two and both IMAX are now 0 ohm

I was going 1150 -1200 1.34v core ram would not move off 1250 much thuo with 1.73v
Thats with just ovp cb-cbb swiches, but was hitting blue screens so i need to mod for ovp i guess?
Are the core speeds per voltage weak sauce results? it was just getting in the groove but the pci- slot frooze up.
this thing is coolness soooooo easy under cold -126c like it was nothing
The only card i eveR used that was like that out of the box
this card is greatness i dont care if i cant get 1500
Now i know why this card might have tri temp monitoring, the vrm area does not get hot even with 1.35v..maybe last along time like that
    i test more later

On all my ASUS 580 CUs I can typically do 1200-1250 with 1.35vgpu. It then starts to eat more vgpu with 1300 to 1350 taking around 1.4 to 1.45 and -150C or so. I only have one 1400Mhz card it it needs 1.525v or so. This is all for Heaven.

What are the mounting hole dimensions on the lightning card?

    Asus Rampage III Extreme - Intel Core I7 980X - Mushkin Redline 1600 MHz 3*2 gb - Asus GTX580 CU II - Coolermaster Silent Pro 1000 Watt - 2x Samsung Spinpoint F1 750 gb in RAID0

same as the rest of the ref. 470/570/480/580
about 5.9cm hole center to hole center

i tried at 1.19v tonight 1100 ish in 06 tests np

05 @ 1.19v was ok for 1140ish but i had to bring down ram speeds.
ran out of ln2 so i could not test more in 06 with higher clock lower ram

i just think load temps of -90c was not low enuff for my 1.35v testing who knows? i'll have fun fiding out with more testing

Because it's dead, sadly. But it made for a much more interesting end to the EMEA finals, for sure.

-> switch to frequency 2D during the bench, i think

Or very limited by the frequency of cpu (at stock for exemple).

Or tweak Superpi (too limited the performance 3D)
