Thumbs up Yer Cap'n figgered out da card, come on in

EDIT - Here is my latest submission without the nature"bug", it could have been a legit 10,000 as I lost 1 fps in nature from a previous run. All tests run at 345/263 9,997

10,028 Edit: this one as pointed out has a bugged nature score.

After a discussion with Jeff yesterday and a generous offer from Jeff of his card so he and I could evaluate and confirm the performance differences in the cards...I busted tail the last 2 nights to figure out this POS I have before sending it off

I redid the volt mod, soldering to the leg of the MOSFET and grounded to the boards ground circuit. Only difference I found is I now have more volts available without cranking my 3.3v higher.

Well...it took till about 3 hours ago but I found out the deficiency and made the adjustments to bring it's level of performance up to you guys.....welp....it's workin' now. 2300Mhz system and 340Mhz so far gpu(complete tests).....it's time to turn up the wick a little more. This card will do 350Mhz.....just need to figger out a Vmem mod and we all might be hitting some excellent numbers.

Abit KV8 A64 motherboard is performing good too....this is a pretty nice board after all.

Onwards and upwards my friends !!

    Nice Job, well done

Can you give us more details about how you redid the mod. Where did you ground it?

Nice score you have there Icee...but I have to tell you that your naturescore is freaked out. Naturebug.... YoupY has also 2 entry @ the ORB with a nature bug...

35FPS in nature can't be done with a Xabre200. Period!

YoupY's only good entry is this one...

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7444345

This is with 320 on the GPU and 260 on the memory.

I had also some freaked out nature scores...it boosted my score with 200. Got 32FPS in nature in stead of the normal 23/24 (268/250). Compare the URL of YoupY and you will find out your score isn't ok.
But without the naturebug it will come up around 9850 ~`9900...stil very nice

Nice score  , so was it the drivers causing the problem?

It was partially the drivers I believe.

But the biggest nut with my card is the AGP driving setting in the MB bios. I cranked it up 10 clicks on the KV8-Max3 and all of the sudden the scores started to jump to normal levels. I've never "had" to alter driving strength before to make a card perform, nor saw any benefit from doing so. But something with my card needs the driving strength from the mainboard elevated to allow it to perform in a normal fashion. I have had the gpu clocks at my fingertips for a week, but before the driving strength fix ,with a switch to the drivers Jeff gave me...I had just cracked 8000 at 340/260, not good at all.

As far as the nature bug....I've hit another one too. I have already thru accident of running high gpu Mhz and leaning the gpu voltage a bit , had the card produce scores with no artifacts which had me at 11,xxx before running nature(I run nature last).....excellent numbers. A lock because of greed(not reducing the gpu clock for nature) lost that one.

It's a fine line glitch between being just lean enough on the gpu volts and high enough on the card clocks.

But anyways, thank you all for the kudo's

    I look foward to Holst's Vmem mod:thumbsup:

    MrIcee, congrats for the scores

Could we have a clean explanation and if possible a pic of how you did the GPU Vmod?

    Thx

    Thank you

I redid the gpu volt mod like others have been doing it, because it's easier for most to solder, like menthol moose pictured here Believe me, it wasn't a magic fix....just an attempt on my part to try to find out why my card wouldn't perform up to snuff. the only side benefit to the change was a touch more voltage available.

...like you needed any more voltage.

Glad you've finally got that card figured out. 11k is insane seeing as you haven't topped out your RAM yet.

This competition is going to be getting a lot more fun to watch now.

BTW, if you want to see how your Xabre200 is really doing... rename the 3DMark2001SE.exe file.
