i love the commercial, all those fake arabs
not exactly a good idea with the middle east falling apart right now, but... yeah, they couldnt have know that when they did the video i guess...

the story of the commercial is hilarious
he goes on a business trip, working on some building design
then he gets a video call from his wife with baby, awwww
he tries to sell his design but the rich arab isnt happy at all... :,[
so he goes for a sad lonely walk on the beach... sigh...
then takes a train (???) and works some more
and then buys a souvenir for his family
and ends up in a ghetto somewhere (wtf?) and just sits there with his tablet watching poor kids play soccer???
then he shows off his brand new shiny gadget in the ghetto... uhm yeah... thats a good idea...
but the kids like it, awwwww
next hes in an office working on a scale of the building (back home? still in the middle east? huh???)
and draws a happy birthday card...
and next thing you see, the rich arab agrees on the deal with him...

so he drew the guy a happy bday card with a cake and that closed the business deal? ^^

hahahah, i laughed a lot watching this video

oh and "eEeEeEEeeE is me"? whats that supposed to mean?
is that the new slogan for EeEEeEeEEEE devices? :P

Up to 3 hrs of battery life? I think this device will fail. Tablets are all about convenient media consumption and I doubt it will be convenient if you have to charge it every three hours or so.
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks

If you want to watch a movie, you don't need something this powerfull. This is for people who want to be able to do actual work with their tablet, not play angry birds. Plus the digitizer and the screen are supposed to be very very good. The only complaints I have seen is the battery life, but you can get a small external battery and make it up to 5-8 hours.

Wow only 3hr battery life. No wonder they arent even trying to hype it up. It may be powerful, but its not portable due to poor battery life and that defeats the purpose of a tablet.

    checked out the amazon link

its funny to see a tablet with exhaust vents, lol
the keyboard is a nice touch, if that is the microsoft 6000 bluetooth keyboard its worth 40$ (and i love mine)
and does anyone have more specs about their cpu, is it SB? i couldnt imagine them using 45nm chips in a light weight tablet.

It doesnt really defeat the purpose of the tablet if it has the Laptop style dock thats a keyboard and one massive battery extending the life to 11 hours. But if you didnt think that you would sacrifice battery life when you heard about this model last year then wow. Their concept for this model was sacrifice none of the performance of a laptop but in a tablet form factor.

Here is the product spec page for Asus. http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=QhWKR7Fmv4jDLbBY But here is the CPUs product page from Intel http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=50026. I don't believe that this is a SB but it is 32nm and it is 2C/4T.

looks that way, the graphics is 45nm, so this seems to be a cheaper solution but still powerful.

basically its a laptop chip and they stuck it into a something the size and weight a netbook and removed the keyboard.

total system tdp on that page says 21.5w for a few configuration.

i would expect such a PC to work mostly on a keyboard and monitor, with the ability to easily keep going for meetings with its own screen and pen. its not meant to COMPLIMENT your laptop, its built to REPLACE it.

This would be awesome to run my companie's EMR on. The only killer for us is the poor battery life. I would hate to see nurses having to go put it up to charge every few hours. Need a model that lasts closer to 8 hours (or more )

Yea its the first time I heard about it

It looks nice and looks functional, but for that price...It will automatically be compared to the Ipad regardless of spec and OS and its intended purpose when you market it as a tablet. There's no getting away from it and the one thing most people look at is battery life, well that's what I did at least and I dont even want a tablet.

My iPad lasts through an entire 13hour international flight without charging, watching movies the whole time.

Needs to last at least 6-8. Then it may have a point in existing.

Reminds me of the inspiron duo, great idea. Terrible execution.

3 hr is practically a deal killer for consumer usage. For office/work, this may be a somewhat practical device. Docks most of the time, carry it to a meeting for presentations, etc. etc. i.e. where the usage model does not require extended time away from a dock this actually may seem appealing.

However, 3 hrs is the deal killer then Win 7 is the nails in the coffin. A desktop/laptop OS will never fly on a tablet, it simply is not built for the input modes needed. Android, iOS, even the vaporware MeeGo has the right idea for tablets and portables. MS is missing, or better yet, has missed the tablet boat. Even if they came up with a totally new OS specifically for portables with all the gesture features etc etc the market has already built it's foundation on iOS and Android.

Fascinating shift in personal computing we are witnessing, the fat cats are about to get a lesson in slimming down.
One hundred years from now It won't matter

How much money I had in the bank Nor what my cloths looked like.... But The world may be a little better Because, I was important In the life of a child.

then why would i get this tablet for 1000$ with a big-4ss heavy laptop dock for more $$$ when i can get a nice ultra portable laptop for half the price if not less, with better specs and better battery life?

nah, the 3h are a real dealbreaker for me...
they should have just taken a ultra portable laptop and enabled the display to get folded flat like gigabyte and others to essentially make this a tablet... slightly ticker and heavier, but much cheaper, WAY longer battery like, proper keyboard

windows7 touch... i dont know... really... i dont know...
i cant imagine this to work very well... but id like to try...

i dont get why the battery sucks so bad though, it must be tiny...
culv can do 10h+ in >2kg laptops...
