Very nice clocks at 830mhz very surprising considering the 5970. How long does this last until it gets taken down. Well they more or less say 300watts is out the door and say they card can consume up to 450watts.

Another lame ass benchmark chart where the competitor card has a 1.0% ratio... lame. Though I want to see how it performs against the GTX 590.

Just to clarify, do you think GTX 590 will be faster/just as fast as two fullblown GTX 570 ?

jhc. the corn just hit the dirt folks. it's not a 300W card... it's a 350W, 375W, and even 450W card.

nothing quite like this has been sold before to the best of my knowledge. there have always been one-off hacks, like the dual GF100 card etc, but not a mainstream card so far out of spec.

gtx 590 is definitely GF110, and it will definitely use more than 300W. the enthusiast class graphics card is being taken to ANOTHER LEVEL!!!

People did the exact same thing with Nvidia's dual GPU in the past and complained exactly as you are but the other way around. It is AMD's best single card vs Nvidia's best single card. Nvidia should release a dual GPU single card so it can be more fair but there is nothing wrong with the comparison for marketing purposes. They are still both single cards.

The gpus look like they're divorced and living in different ends of the house.

Well at any rate I'm sure not too many expected power consumption to be much different considering what we already knew of the gpus being used for this aic.

So much for PCIE certification... I was hoping default powertune would have been 300watt, not 375. This is insane No doubt about it, this is going to be one loud hot arsed card. That said for Nvidia to be competitive they will have to offer something similar ( >300watt ) We need 28nm yesterday.

As far as price I don't see this being less than 700 now that the cat is out of the bag.

Damn this is going to be a monster. And the OC they used in the graphs was position one on the card at 880Mhz, not a huge overclock. Putting this guy under water 1000Mhz should be achievable.

Yep you are right, this is just with the switch position set to position 1.

Im not sure it will be a lot slower, considering, the normal position on the switch is at 830mhz and the second position is at 880mhz ( on thoses screens ), the 6970 = 880mhz and 6950 = 800mhz ....

This is just push me to ask me what Sapphire, Asus, gigaybte will be able to bring if they jump on the core clock competition with their own cooling solution... 920-940mhz models ?

    450W under OC mode
    freaking ridiculous
67% faster than gtx580 under OC => about 63% faster gtx580 under normal mode.
I have strong belief that gtx590's gonna bury this premature monster alive

Surely not Oh I see, that is just the adapters for the Mini Display Port.

It's a shame they didn't compare it to the 5970 to see how it performs.

That's just what they ship with. Dual Link adapters cost a lot more. Single link supports 1920x1080 which is the majority of eyefinity users.

    1920x1080 @ 120hz requires dual-link. 2560x1600 @ 60hz requires dual-link. Even 2560x1440, 2560x1080..

Dont care if it costs a bit more, should be a dual-link adapter.

Yeah I know 2560*xxxx isnt a huge market yet but 1920x1080 @ 120hz might be soon.
