News from Gamescom rekindles rumor of GTX 590 successor

Nvidia and AMD have been so tightly tied with the GeForce GTX 590 and Radeon HD 6990 dual-GPU graphics cards that neither have a clear performance lead over the other. Older reports suggested that the new card would be a simple revision of the GTX 590, but a Slovenian gaming site called Somua.com suggests that there will be a new SKU name...

The irony would be if AMD's new 28nm came out at the same and totally over shadowed this new card from Nvidia.

Nah. First 28nm will be mid-end, not high-end.

With the amount of issues that the VRM sections have had on the 590s I would be afraid to get a 595.

this is surely only the revision 2.0 with better VRM who was rumored some months ago ... with a better clockspeed and memory, nothing more.

Damn, so if new Fermis are still coming out then Keplar is farther off than most think. Even though Keplar isn't expected to be anything amazing anyways. I'll wait till the next gen after Keplar.

cant really tell honestly, this card is not built to be sold in mass quantity, but rather just keep the focus on nvidia. although i agree with others that a correct 590 is long overdue. there was no need for them to build the card at just 11" since it costs more than all other components combined. i think card is more about trying to have the fastest gpu around, rather than worry about some profits from these things. and with a 6990 impossible to find its almost like amd cant even say they have the fastest anymore.

To be precise it's 40nm to 28nm, and it's almost equivalent to the last one (from 55nm to 40nm)...
Mature (high end) products won't come up/until next summer I reckon.

Exactly. Exactly. Maybe 28nm isn't right around the corner. Is 6 months right around the corner?

I don't think 28 nm NVIDIA (besides those low-end Fermis rumored to go 28 nm at end of year / beginning of next) is early enough such that there's no point in releasing an updated 590.

Also, I looked at the original source and they've crossed out the "GTX 595" and added this (Google Translate):
Update: There seems to have been wrong information that is passed at one time or another, anyway the GTX 595 does not (yet?) and PCs contiendraientt instead an SLI GTX 580.

And perhaps a different cooling solution. Yep.

This card would be good if it had:

    3GB per GPU
    Custom cooling from their AIB's

Though I would prefer a non reference design, I like having lower temps and less noise, my GTX 590 runs like a hairdryer at full load and peaks at the high 80's under full load.
