Do NOT bother to try to fix those hard lock ups.

It is nothing to do with your graphic cards, neither with your Drivers.

It happens both in Nvidia and ATI, but mainly in ATI with the 6000 series cards.

Here are hundreds of people complaining about it:

    http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/5401851.page

As you see, it mainly happens to people who use Punkbuster + 6000 series cards + Monitoring program (MSI Afterburner, TRixxx, EVGA Precission, GPU-Z...).

If you have any of those, close it, and try to play again, hard lock ups SHOULD dissapear (I say should, because they do not seem to help the issue for some people, but most people get this fixed by just closing those programs).

So yeah, don't blame the 11.4 Preview drivers, not their fault, it is completely Punkbuster's fault, it all started on Wednesday 9th March when Punkbuster released an update.

Many people are complaining about it, but Punkbuster didnt release any fix yet, so the only "fix" we have is to close MSI Afterburner (Or Whatever you're using for a custom fan profile or OSD monitoring) and enjoy the game.

So yeah, I hope I was able to help you.
yea got that issue with afterburner and 11.4, punkbuster crashes comp.
    off works fine.

It happens with any driver actually, not just 11.4

It's due to Punkbuster screwed up last update on Wednesday 9th March...

For some reason it no longer likes MSI Afterburner or any similar program that monitors and/or controls GPU's fan speed....

I hope it gets fixed soon, it's annoying that I have to manually set my fan speed on CCC to be able to play BC2.

Keep trying, megaupload is just a bit buggy. Refresh the page a few times and it should work!

11.4 are working pretty good for me in Tri-Fire 6990+6970. I'm impressed. Rock-stable beta drivers! Who would have thaught that?

6990 launch is alot smoother then the 5970.

Good signs of what's coming from AMD in the next months.

Some Crossfire profiles are still flaky with the 6990, and it's normal, the card just came out... but it's surprisingly working well for me! DOW II Retribution, Borderlands, Dragon Age 2, Metro 2033, Stalker COP complete. I can't make then crash/freeze/BSOD! So disappointed. I'm sorry, not my fault. ...

Disabling afterburner did indeed fix the hardlock I was getting. It's a shame that is the fix, but THANKS!!! I can actually play BC2 again, so happy lol. I still have a random CTD in BC2, and Vietnam will go to white/gray screen with vertical bars within 2 mins every time. I can actually stay online for more than 1 round now at least.

Little trifire on the 11.4's. More to follow.

Still a lot left in the 970 and need to tweak a bit to see how high I can get the 5850 cores in trifire.

MAJOR issues installing the RC2 drivers with 3 5830's. Driver set doesnt want to install CCC for some reason, had to revert back to 10.5's. Spent 4 hours jacking with these, and had the 1st 11.4's installed with no issue...

Don't have a 6990 but have not had any trouble with ATI/AMD drivers since I quit using those driver cleaner/sweeper things and started following the manufacturers instructions for uninstalling/installing drivers. But, first I had to go through the entire registry and manually remove every ATI entry in there. No problems since.

Yea, although they can solve some issues, but running them every time you update a driver makes no sense. Unless you still run win xp that is ^^

edit: running the 11.4 RC2 on my two 6950/6970's. No issues so far, haven't noticed any difference from the 3/16/2011 dated ones. No CAP inc in these btw.

latest 11.4 (march 23rd) prevented me from loading League of Legends on win7 x64. Also, it's still not solving the CCC overdrive monitor flicker issue on my 5970. I had to reload 11.2 for a stable setup.

I've had this issue once with my 5870 and the 11.3's recently. Wasn't Dragon Age 2, not actually sure what triggered it to be honest, just found it strange.

11.4 is broken for me in crossfire with 2x 6970. I've installed/uninstalled the driver countless times with no luck. I used ATI's recommended method of going through the control panel and then I follow behind each uninstall with Driver Sweeper 2.9.

I have even done TWO fresh installs of W7 x64 and installed 11.4 and crossfire is still broken.

Anyone know how to get them to work?

    Thanks

Uninstall all drivers -> Take out one card -> install drivers with just one card -> plug in second card

    That usually does the trick
