    Last Page doesn´t work

This is a problem that occurs from time to time in different forumthreads.

When you try to get to the last page and press the last pagenumber it reloads the current page.

I doesn¨t happen on all threads, just some.

If I press page 110 it sends me back to 109
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...79044&page=109

This thread used to have this problem for a long long time but now it works again
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=43304&page=50

Is it a glitch in vBulletin?

It does. I'm part of computerforum.com and it happens once in a while.
Signatures make my posts look huge... but I'm not humble enough to completely remove my signature, so I kept this note explaining it.

I think this may be due to the board mishandling (or a bad setting?) a certain feature that is used for the "greater good of the forum population". I'm uncertain if I should mention exactly what this "feature" is so I'll leave it to your imaginations rather than say something I'm not supposed to. Heck, I may have said too much already.

Fine, I'll tell...but, if I get in trouble for it, I expect you to stand up for me.

There is a feature that allows the admins to set certain troublesome users on global ignore, only forum staff can see these posts. I happen to know of at least one person who is currently on that list as they are a trouble maker from another forum. This user was put on global ignore so that they wouldn't "earn their colored nick" on their home forum by simply banning them. I believe the idea here is that the user sees no one is responding to their posts so they just leave. By telling you (and everyone else) this, those idiots may now try spamming the boards to screw up the boards even further thereby forcing management to ban them...hope your happy.

If someone from management sees this and fells it's inappropriate, please don't hesitate to delete it.

Indeed that might be the case. Never though it works that way.
Well it is very useful tool, especially for such large and diverse board as this.

So at the end if the last page ain't working - it was not worth looking there at all
    Thanks Waterlogged.

You're not quite getting what waterlogged said, I think...

I think this is how it works:

Poster X is on global ignore. So you never see his posts. However, his posts still add to the number of posts on a page as far as the vbulletin software is concerned.

Example: Poster X makes 4 posts in a thread that is 43 posts long total. You and I only see 39 posts. Each page is 20 posts long. SO, the vbulletin software tells us there is a 3rd page, but since Poster X is on global ignore, we don't see his posts, and therefore there are only 39 posts visible to us, so page 3 doesn't really "exist" to us. Which is why clicking on the last page doesn't go anywhere.

If this is the case, it sounds like a glitch in vbulletin that is hiding the Poster X's posts but isn't applying that to total thread post count, so it throws the page numbering off.

Bear in mind that this is only if I am understanding it correctly and that this is why the broken last page happens. It very well could be something entirely different causing it

Okey, I misread it but why not ban him instead if the post are on global ignore?

Global ignore sounds like an evil punishment for some active user that posts long winded gibberish or millons of trollish posts and all but might be what they deserve. I do not support censorship but I know that this forum have had problem in the past and has shutdown FS-forum thus implemented normal forum policy.

So this is a form of Super Ignore for Admins

They don't ban the person because that's what the person wants them to do so they get their nick in a special color on their home forum. By putting them on global, they deny them that privilege.

That's just not true....we happily accept martyrs.

VERY few people are on Global Ignore and ban candidates are almost never Global Ignore candidates.

As for whether or not the pagination issue is from someone on Global Ignore? Possibly...no way to search for someone's posts once they're on it and I'm not manually digging through that many pages looking for a member whose posts are on ignore
