Taking a look to your code seems you're generating the rays in the CPU, then passing then to the GPU to perform the ray tests and then you bring back the results to the CPU. That implies a lot of PCI transfers, latency and synchronization.

No, that is the hybrid rendering mode, look for PathGPU rendering mode (the sources are in the pathgpu directory: http://src.luxrender.net/luxrays/fil...uxmark/pathgpu). It is the one used in LuxMark.
