I have only cooled my RAM once, and that was just for appearances.
My question; does it really make any difference? I am guessing that it does not.
TIA

Mostly for aesthetics.
Really depends on your goals, it is mostly done for appearance as you say or to complete the look of the mod.
In some highly overclocked systems you could argue that the modules do reach a significant temperature to justify extra cooling but not when priced up against the cost of the block etc.

Good choice most of the time you dont gain any extra performance, and they are typically extremely restrictive
It will lower the ambient case temperature. If you have a radiator sucking air by the ram than it might help, but not by much.
the EK blocks are not restrictive. you would have to find the right block/.

You don't even need a fan on them when running at 2000Mhz and 1.67V You sure don't need to water cool them
My ram has no fans. Also no heatsinks. This whole cooling thing? Overrated.
I can't really take it past 1.65v, (or I'll have to keep buying new CPUs), and it doesn't heat much at all at that voltage. So... meh.
Sigs are obnoxious.
As you already understood, it's mostly for bling...
