    What would you like to see in memory reviews?

    We are starting to review memory kits for our website. I cant gather what we should test about memory. What i usually look for in a memory review or before buying one is the overclocking ability of the kit.

    What do you guys look for in a memory review and what you want to be tested?

    I know it's a fair amount of work, but scaling at varies timings with various voltages. Eg:

    • 1.35v
      • 7-8-7
      • 8-9-8
      • 9-10-9
      • 10-11-10
      • 11-11-11
    • 1.50v
      • 7-8-7
      • 8-9-8
      • 9-10-9
      • 10-11-10
      • 11-11-11
    • 1.55v
      • 7-8-7

    • 1.60v
      • 7-8-7
      • 8-9-8
      • 9-10-9

    Maybe just do a few voltages (1.35v, 1.50v, 1.65v?) if that's too much. I know it would make my choices much much easier when buying RAM

    Thats exactly what i had i mind. You would just like to see the frequency it reached or you'd also like benchmark results at all these clocks?

    and why did you choose 7-8-7 instead of 7-7-7 and 8-9-8 instead of 8-8-8 and in others as well?

    Ram chips, top overclock with lose timings and top overclock with tight timings.
    With the info to go along with it, for example, if the reviewer needed to adjust drives, then I'de like to see that info...

    Btw, offtopic wise.
    Is 1.75v really safe to use, I mean if the sticks don't mind it that is, then is it safe at that level?
    I'm thinking for example, ddr1 3v max safe without added cooling.
    Stock was 2.5v, 0.5 = 20% increase.
    1.5v with a 20% increase = 0.3v, ='s 1.8v max safe without added cooling.
    But that's just in theory...

    Must quote and I add more stability test as Prime95 blend -> custom amount of memory in stead of Linx or HyperPi.

    So guys i briefed my memory reviews editor about how he should review the memory. Our first memory review is out, you guys can check it here and give your feedback. We got a P55 setup specially for memory reviews cause none of the new platforms can do whats possible with P55 in terms of memory overclocking.

    In this review, he didn't test all the scenarios you guys mentioned but now that we have got the grip, next time we'll try to test as many as possible.
