    X5687 LN2 with GTX 580 and 3870X2 benching with pics (UPDATED 3870X2 AM3 Gold)

Tested a ES X5687 chip today for the first time.
Got some decent scores and had fun.

    Here's the setup:
    UD9 and R3E boards
GTX 580 and 3870X2 graphics cards
    Mushkin Redline 2000C8 ram
Kingpin Gemni pot tried both bases
    Antec 1200w PSU
    ~35L of LN2

First started with UD9 board and slower base.
Found CB to be -181oC and it ran up to 6.1ghz Wprime32M and 5.93ghz Wprime1024M with under 1.9v. Wouldn't run full pot.

Next unmounted pot and CPU and changed motherboards and bases.
Running on R3E and with Rocket base it had a CB of -114oC with 2c2t, but no CB with all the cylinders running.
Full pot on my probe was -186oC.
Scaled slightly from 1.8v to 1.9v and was barely able to grab a 6060mhz 32M run but did after a few attempts and restarts.
    Wprime 1024M on the R3E didn't scale to 1.9v like 32M and also didn't do 4.93ghz like on UD9.

Had issues with 3870X2's first core resetting to stock clocks running 3dmark05 and AM3 wouldn't show the score at the end of each run, only a black screen.
    My lucky day.

Anyway still got some decent results!

This run is just a straight run in Vista to see if the CPU would run 32M at those clocks and uncore.

Here's one of the weird 3870X2 runs. You can see the 1st GPU core is running stock clocks after bench.

Here is the normal run with both 3870X2 cores overclocked:

    Now.....
    What you've been waiting for.....
    FROSTY PICS!
    Enjoy.

deleted directpll.dll for aquamark? that usually fixes it. There's a 64-bit patch out there too.

    Thanks.
Will be hopefully breaking 6.4s maybe more soon with a different configuration...

Should have remembered that! I was in 32-bit only today but did try the 64-bit exe and replacing the directpll.dll with the 64-bit patch's directpll.dll....

For 3DM03 and Uniengine Heaven will be doing LN2 580 asap.
3DM05 and '06 as well as AM3 GPU clocks may help the score but not much. Heavily CPU limited benches.

Didn't try it so don't know if it might boot higher or still not have a CB.

It was the max with 4c8t, one higher Bclk than my Superpi1M run would make the mouse jumpy. Might have been stable higher without HT.
Was at 103mhz PCIe and with this R3E it should have been good past 220FSB if the chip was up to it.

I found when the board is conformalled I don't need to worry about frost buildup and thought I would just bench without the foam sleeve on the pot. Turned out just fine.

nice job wow no CB thats nice. My 5687 had trouble passed -130c. I think you will find some more mhz in it.

Try 0011 bios if you get a second, worked well for me

Yeah 4870X2 would be fun.... Maybe its time to sell this 3870X2 and trade up.
Old drivers kinda stink but for this card its the only way to get good performance.

Thanks. The F1 is a really pretty pot.
I admit I like the rocket base much better than the slayer base... The fast one is so easy and fast getting from the -115oC CBB to -186oC.. Also its easy to control with just a tiny pour sends temps 3-5oC...

    Hey Step,
Will try again with the Slayer base and R3E with new BIOS. There should be more in this chip unless it has degraded. Maybe my mount wasn't good... I'm wondering because I had a CB on the UD7 and no CB on the R3E...
Will try higher QPI voltage, may be needed to get higher clocks and higher NB and get it more stable, dunno.
Was at 1.41 and 1.35v QPI for those two Wprime runs.
Tried 1.8 and 1.6 PLL and 1.2 IOH but not difference BTW.
