Intel ships Sandy Bridge chipsets again: Yes, the recalled ones

    http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20030936-1.html

To sum up the article, Intel is relying on the motherboard manufacturers to remove onboard SATA II headers and instead ship with a SATA II PCIe card.

Maybe someone here could enlighten us what the downfall is for a PCIe SATA II port vs an onboard port.

Hopefully 1155 mobos will be available soon with the new design.

Intel was strongly pushed by mobo manufacturers that would lose a lot of money if they completely stopped production lines.

Less so the motherboard manufacturers than the large OEM system builders I would think.

They should also offer a good PCIe add on card to those who already got the MB. Many, including myself wouldn't return the MB then, but hey, it better be a good one.

I'm sure Intel could supply motherboard manufacturers with a good SATA2 PCIe card, but that isn't going to be a solution for many, as plugging in a PCIe card will steal at least one lane from the PCH.
When the new revised boards are out, I will for sure be insisting on a replacement board, or a refund.

Well... that note is talking about system/laptop vendors... not motherboard manufacturers...
