G.Skill looking pretty good... Should I switch?

I can still RMA my Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB CL8 kit (at a $20 loss, restocking fee). Here's the best I could do with this kit, I tried DDR3-2133, but the RAM didn't respond to voltage at all. I was using HCI memtest to 300% coverage, 8 iterations of the program testing 768M each. At DDR3-2133 it would fail almost immediately. Here is the screenshot for DDR3-1866 9-10-9-27-1T @ 1.5V (1.52V actual):

    I7-3930K @ 4.8Ghz (1.35) / R4E / 16GB Samsung LV @ 2133 (1.38V) / Crucial M4 128GB / Caviar Black 1TB / HD6850 / Corsair AX850 / MCP355->RX360->SR1-360->XSPC Raystorm->EK-R4E-LE / DD Double-Wide Horizontal

What did you expect out of a 1600 C8 kit

G.Skill does have some nice 2x4GB kits out though

Good question, I guess I expected to get to DDR3-2133 with loose timings and more voltage. I'm not a OCing expert by any means, esp. memory, it just seems like the G.Skill 2x4GB kits can get there. Heck, maybe someone with more OC ability could get this Corsair kit to 2133. The only results I've seen so far were with 4x4GB.

Dunno, 1600 to 2133 is a long way.

Depending on what you are doing with this rig, 4GB kits are really cheap, 4GB of fast ram can possibly > 8GB sorta slow ram.

I just ordered two sets of 4gb GSkills, but that was because I wanted 8Gb of ram. If I already had an 8Gb set I would not change it. Besides, it looks like you have some good ram, yeah, maybe it doesn't hit 2133Mhz, but 1866Mhz at 1.5v is still pretty nice.

so is 1066 to 2100 but everyone who purchased OEM D9JNL kits pulled that one off. he is pushing it to try for 2133 even with loose timings however that gskill kit is the

It's not all about the ram. Most of the time 2133mhz can't be done because of the IMC on the chip. You'll need more VTT voltage at the very least to run that high, but that still might not do it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with running 1600mhz with tight timings, memory bandwidth is nothing short of amazing on sandy bridge no matter what the settings are.

Almost bought two sets of those, but ended up doing these:

I figure I can tighten the timings up a little since they are rated at 1.5v.

I've had generic RAM with Samsung TCCD ICs that went from stock 200MHz (DDR400) all the way up to around 340MHz (DDR680) with almost no increase in voltage. It's got nothing to do with stock speeds and everything to do with ICs.

That is a great set of sticks. I have had mine at 2150 at 6-9-6-24 1T no problem.

what board and bios?I have a set and they dont like changing the timings at all on my asus p867pro and 2500k

7-10-7-26 1t is astable up to 1100-1120 at stock volts and with 2t they will do 1140 under 1.7 volts.I think its a bios issue since the board wont boot at any speed if you change the timings.

The board is a UD5 with f5c bios running a L040B208 2600K sandy, auto profile1 or manual works fine at 1.7v. I do not have any experience with the p867pro though this ram should produce similar results. The MaximusIV Extreme would really shine with these sticks.

I would never put more than 1.85v into hyper, in any circumstance, I dont care if the ram is sitting at -110c,...

My GTS takes 2.4 pretty smoothly

Yes, which is why comparing this ram to D9JNL/GTS/GTR doesnt make any sense...

Could you re run with these timings with a 46 and a 47 multy,im on stock cooler and don't want to push over 1.4 volts in my 2500k

Its definitely a bios bug since a can clock mine to 107 blck stable but wont even post changing any of the first 3 timings with stock speeds

    Wow mate, Awesome memory scores!!

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?
