    First i7 Attempt

Finally made the jump to a used i7 930 with a gigabyte ud3r from my old e6870. Been playing with it and achieved better results then expected, 4.3ghz @1.344v.

QPI/Vtt is at 1.34, DRAM at 1.64. Everything else is at stock settings. With my Noctua D-14, temps run 74C on hottest core after 10 runs of LinX.

I've hit a wall at 4.3ghz. I managed to get 4.4 to post but never stable. Ive tried up to 1.375v but its a no go & I've been told not to go above 1.362v.

Does everything look ok for 24/7 usage? Also any tips on how to increase stability?

if u have good temps u can easy run 1.45v every day with no problem, thats will not kill cpu so easy...my last run with 980X Gulftown at 4,6ghz and 1,45v at 24/7 even tested that Vcore at my last bloomfield Extreme 975 to

i've been up to 1.5 on a old 930/ud7 setup.. 4.4 shouldnt be that hard even with HT on.. for 4.4 try these settings and post back..
    Vcore - 1.36
vtt- leave same or jump to 1.36 or next increment..
    Qpi pll - 1.3
Leave uncore 2x only and leave QPI link speed on AUTO.. dont forget to flas to a newer bios as it can do wonders

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

Thanks for the comments, took most of the advice; updated the bios, set vcore to 1.43, QPI/VTT @ 1.34, CPU pll @ 1.86, ioh core @ 1.18.
Now running at 4.5GHZ with those settings and I'm stressing now. 4 hours stable in prime95 and I'm about to run a 20+ linX test. Thanks for all the help.

*Edit: PC froze on the 18th loop, damn. Going to up the vcore another notch & try again. At least I'm happy with my temps, hasn't gone over 85C.

try up to 1.47 vcore, dont go higher unless your on water.. u can raise vtt fair bit, try 1.357 or something close to that, 1.4 is what i've used for 24/7 usage.. Your cpu pll should be at 1.8..

Vcore up to 1.44 & VTT @ 1.36 seems to be the ticket for 4.5GHZ, also backed off the cpu pll down to 1.8 but I dont think it changed nothin. I'll try for more after I get my 20 linx runs in, but I'm limited by my RAM atm, but it would be run to see if the cpu will run at 4.6 @ 1.47v.

Thanks for the help Johnny & others!

*also is my RAM faster at 1720 cas 10 or 1333 cas 7? I really need better RAM for my oc but i'm trying with what I got.

Which dimms you using? Cas10 at 1720 isnt that great, You should be able to hit cas7 rather easily.. cas10 dam.. To answer your question i'd go with 1720 more frequency..

Fair enough, You should be able to run Cas 7-8 quite easily , give it a go and run memtest86+ ..

Cas 8, (8-8-8-24) wasn't stable but the stock timings (9-9-9-24) passed the mem86 test.

If I was to upgrade the RAM with something higher quality do you have any suggestions on what to look at?
