    3930k vs 3770k vs 4770k

So I can get either a 3930k or a 3770k really cheap, however if I go with the 3930k I have to upgrade my mobo to x79 (currently have a Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z). Another option would be to go with haswell and sell my board and 3570k when it comes out and upgrade to a 4770k and another option is to get the 3770k and upgrade to a gtx 780.

I'd like to achieve some good overclocks, will be used mostly for gaming and overclock. Light photoshop and video editing.

What I really want is to achieve is 5.0ghz on air I currently have

    - Asus Maximus IV Extreme-z
    - 3570k
    - G.Skill 8gb ram 1866mhz
    - Asus Gtx 680
    - H100i

I don't think the 3xxx series is what you need then. I'd say wait for Haswell.

Stick with what you got, Haswell is only 10% or so faster than Ivy, unless you have plans to make heavy use of a IGP that is. Anyone with a SB or IB system may as well skip Haswell completely as it doesn't offer anything compelling, especially as you already have a IB system.

if you have a 3570k@4.5-4.8ghz dont change it its massive overkill for games anyway 3770k's dont overclock verry well i have a 3770k it wont go over 4.5ghz
keep your 3570k and just spend your money on 680 sli or upgrade to 780 now its out

Either luck out with a 2500k/2600k (most don't do 5ghz).

I've had extremely bad luck with finding a 3770k that does over 4.6ghz. 3930 is just too expensive.

Stay there & do as rubber5 says. I can't think of many games, if any, that'll remotely push your 3570k. You'd see a huge jump moving to 680 SLI.
    You must [not] advance.
