you cant use all of your sata ports! so how is saying you couldnt use all of the tires any different?

so the "workaround" is just not to use it? LOL

As i said, it is NOT a workaround.
The difference is, this still runs with 4 other ports just fine and dandy,

    A car with a missing tire doesn't.

A car with a mismatched tire does.

    your comparison was flawed.

Number of installs lost/corrupted (8) - Number lost since swapping to 6 Gb/s ports (0)

All sata ports damaged with the exception of the 6 Gb/s. Probably due to a steady diet of 5.3GHz benching, you think?

how many laptops require more than 2 SATA controllers? Most mainsteam get along with one optical drive, one HDD/SSD
higher end might require a 3rd one if two HDD/SSDs are present

What about eSATA? Either you use a SATA 6 port for it and leave the ODD on a potentially failing port or you leave the eSATA on a potantially failing and slower port. Option 3: Add Marvell controller, which adds to cost and heat and potentially thickness. The good thing here is that there are still virtually no laptops with SB, so it won't be a mess to fix. Imagine going to a store and buying a laptop not knowing if the PCH is revision C or B...

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

If your RAID setup is on the affected SATA2 ports then, yea.I would not put a raid array ona potentially bust controller ;-)

It was human error, intel chips still made by humans. And you can be glad human did this error.
It will be scarry if someday chips will be made by ai-robotic, wiping out human race, simply coz humans do errors

Got the system up and running...Didn't have to do any configuration..Started on first boot..

Front Panel E-sata connected and DVDRW plugged into the marvell sata controller. Windows installed fine, in fact the fastest I've ever installed windows..Sure it had to do with the SSD..C300..which along with my WD BLACK 2TB HDD are plugged into the intel 6gb/s sata ports..So all my sata devices working fine..Meanwhile the 4 affected ones are going untouched.

I am very happy with this system..waiting 2-3 more months would suck..Glad I got the board shipping the night before the recall..

By the way..I'm sure it's because its my first experienece with using an SSD, but dang man...this C300 flies..I cannot believe how fast windows installed...I was expecting 30+ minutes as usual..It was done in like less than 10..

One other neat feature of the Z68 is the SSD caching option. I'm hoping things line up such that I can return my P67 board and jump over to a Z68 board without months of downtime.

Yes I'm hoping for the same outcome! I don't see what the big deal about SSD caching is though. Wouldn't a strait up SSD for OS+apps and HDD for storage work just as good?

actually a car with a missing tire still runs. just doesnt go anywhere. if you have six sata devices that you would like to connect to your motherboard, you would feel much the same i am sure. your motherboard would turn on, but your other devices wouldnt go anywhere.

computer parts and car analogys are a strict no no
yeah car analogies are a no-no. but i dont care

the whole "fixed" thread postings is considered a no-no by many as well. ("For that purpose fixed.") many consider it flamebait

but, this being the news section, i will not reply from this point forward.
