Just curious what most people keep their speed at. I have my two pumps at full speed and wonder if I should turn it down a few notches for longer life?

Some run them very low on 2 for near silent and others feel that 4 is the best for heavy load.
Drop the pump down one notch and check your system temps under load. If you feel that the drop didn't sacrifice a lot in temps try going one more down until you reach a balance of load and temps you can live with.

The pump Maverick, BMaverick ... has a massive hoard of a Laing DDC pump stash
Mine is at full tilt but when pushing through 2 radiators and 4 blocks I figure it probably needs to be.

If someone turns D5 slower usually it's just to make it quieter or to ease bleeding out air bubbles from water when filling. I doubt in slower speed prolonging pump's life much. If you are satisfied with it's level of noise, no need to turn speed down.
I have a d5 that doesn't have the speed adjustment. Is it possible to undervolt it to lower the noise?
Yes, just that rheostat should be able to handle rather high power (more so then for DDC pumps).
But have you tried first eliminate other possible sources of noise? Eg. by adequate vibration isolation?
As in most cases non vario (without speed controller) D5 pumps have lower maximum performance (kind of like D5 Vario at speed 4 from 1-5), so i wouldn't consider new purchase of it.
I keep mine all the way up because I get a slightly audible whine at lower settings, or not enough flow at very low settings.

i leave it on 5 as i cant hear it anyway. the pc isnt on 24/7 so id say it will live for a long time

both of mine are soft mounted and run at 4. I believe the noise was noticeably decreased when I installed EK tops.
Good to know Keeping mine full speed ahead! 1 of my loops is pretty big so I suppose it's best for flow anyway.

I have 3 MCP655 in my case, and they are all at ''4''. At 5, they were all humming faintly, even when decoupled from the case. At 4, I don't hear them at all. Since my computer was built for silence, I could easily hear the MCP655 at 5.
