AMD also carries sub 100 X4 cpus, and for a bit more (actually 50%), EE X4 which is rated at 45w ( Athlon II X4 600E ). I am not sure whether that's TDP or ADP though.

But then for a bit more money on top of EE X4, you can get SB 2500s rated at 65w.

An Antec what? If it is a "builders Series" I have a G0 Q66 @ 3.4 on air on that power supply with not issues 100% WCG and F@H on the vid card.
A Intel 975 board should be able to take it to 3.4 with out a problem at all. Maybe check for update info for the BIOS?

You're going to have to bump up your Vcore, but if you put it at like 1.4 you should be able to boot at 375*9 without too much trouble... then see how high you can bump it?

Heck, the only Q6600 I ever OCed I put at 1.4v and started at 400*9. When that worked I just left it.

my Q9550 hit 80C last night while i was sleeping with a 9700 zalman on it. not even overclocked, and the zalman was put on that same day. i have a 4850x2 with 2 VR900's on it, it used to run at 50C but now its hitting 80C again so i had to re-underclock it.
