    6950 6990 crossfire?

I recently rma'd a 5970 and since asus does't have any they offered 2 6950's in exchange. Right now I am running a 5870 and 5970 trifire, I was wondering if anyone knew if the 6990 will be able to run trifire with the 6950's.

err....they didn't have any 5970's so they offered you 2 5970's? What does this have to do with a 6950 or the unreleased 6990?

I believe you should be able to, yes, except that will be quadfire, not trifire as the 6990 is two gpus. I'd honestly just get a third 6950, as quadfire does not scale too well. Also, I'd get that 6950 quick as there will be a new revision that will likely not unlock to 6970s.

    2x 6950s u mean mate

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

Quadfire, and yes, I believe so. This is a superb exchange, 5970 for 2x 6950s... Don't even look back.

Indeed. I would take it if I were you. Unlock shaders, overclock them and you have literally exchanged a 5970 for 2 6970s!!!

They are on their way. Now I'll have to get a 3rd 6950 or a 6990 and some water blocks and I'll be in business!

I am running 5970/5870 trifire both watercooled right now. I think if I dont have a3rd. Card I'm going to see a performance drop. Glad to hear you've seen a significant increase in performance over your 5970, I hear the6950's scale real well

they scale a lot better than 5xxx series, and the drivers are very immature, which is what surprises me.

what you will see is that the new setup will also chew less power, so you wont have to upgrade psu even if you wanna run quad..... I remember when I used to run quad on 4870's... thank god nowadays for the same price 6950's can provide far more.

oh BTW are you running all lanes at x16?

Yes all lanes are 16x. Havent messed with my rig for awhile. I now have 3 6950's, but haven't tried them trifire yet. My goal was to use the 5870 in the media pc I just built, but before I got the 3rd 6950 the 5870 died in my benching rig. I had to sacrifice a 6950 for the families entertainment for now.
