What software is needed to Unlock the full potential of a GTX580

    Hi All,

I have 2 GTX580s coming from Newegg next week which I bought as Open Boxes today for $375 each.

What is the best Bios to flash into them to OC them on cold air? The Asus one, or just leave them alone and unlock the voltages and speeds through some other tool.

What Nibitor version is needed to flash a GTX580

What software works best to manipulate the Voltages and the speeds on the core and memory. Afterburner, Asus Smart Doctor, etc, etc.

All Help and recommendations are needed to get these cards to SLI to beat my Old personal best 3DMark06 score of 32,200

I haven't really played with a Nividia Bios since 2007 when I used Nibitor on my 8800GTS G92.

    Thanx for your suggestions

keep the stock bios and just grab afterburner and enjoy, you will hit a cooling wall before you hit max voltage unless on water.

Use Asus BIOS or just ask someone to mod your original one (PM me if you like).

You need NiBiToR 6 which is not out yet.

    Afterburner, as you mentioned.

Well, to reach over 32k marks, you will need just one GTX580.

BTW, why do you ask all these questions, when it seems you didn't forget how it's all done.

    I know with a $1K 980x 6c/12T CPU i could get past 32,200.

But I'm still going to use my i7 950 which can do 4.6+ on water in the cold garage.

    Hi All,

Got back from Florida last night after being there on business since Monday.

During the week the MSI GTX580s arrived.

Been playing with them all this morning.

But still to this day, my personal best in 3DMark06 of 32,200 was done with 3 Asus HD4890s.

    I've tried 2-HD5970s (31,800), 4-HD5870's (31,900), and now 2-GTX580s (31,804)

I know I'm CPU limited, but I just need another 500 points.

I'll stick the Dimas Bench Table in the cold Garage tonight to see if 32,300 can be had tomorrow.

But that's sort of like cheating.

If any one has ant tips on how to squeeze 500 more points out of my rig please "Do Tell"
