I posted the solution a bit up in this thread but here it is again. Please let me know if it works for you. Since we have the same board it must be the same problem

    "
That does definitly sound like the same problem as i had before.

What you need to do is first turn speedstep on, if you turn it off the settings you are about to change will dissapear.
Then look for "Turbo power limit", it should be right below speedstep in the overclocking section. Change the "Turbo power limit" to manual and then you have to find the right values for your system. Im running 180w short and 140w long and that seems to have solved my problems.

Hope it helped some Please let me know how it turns out"

VCCSA is the voltage to adjust if you want to increase your BCLK clock by any "noteworthy" margin. At stock volts (which should be 0.925v) you might get another 2-3MHz on BCLK. Increasing VCCA to a touch over 1v may allow you to squeeze 105MHz BCLK, and 1.1v might allow you to reach 107-108MHZ BCLK. I wouldn't advise going above a VCCA voltage of 1.1. Each 1MHz BCLK increase equates to about a +19MHz jump in memory frequency.

The reason the BCLK clock can't go very high on SB is because of the architectural design. When you adjust BCLK, you also adjust the PCI-E bus speed. Currently theres no way to lock down the PCI-E bus to freely allow BCLK adjustment on SB. If it is possible to lock PCI-E it would most likely involve some kind of divider settings although what performance impact this method would have if it were to work I can only guess at. Latency on the PCI-E lanes would likely be heavily effected.

Well did it fix the problem?

Not sure, this is just my guesses but i think if you put it to high there should be a chance that the cpu stresses the board to much. Maybe there is a chance of burn mosfets or something.

Nice speed, but i have achieved 5328mhz on water

How are you getting on having to look at wendels mug every time you enter the UEFI?

Anyway, on a more related note when you come to tweaking your memory to get a bit more out of it without having to jump to a different divider be sure to adjust the VCCSA voltage before tweaking with the BCLK
The reason I went with the fatality board is because I liked the color scheme, I liked the layout, I prefer the snapping plastic pieces for the PCIe slot on it over the extreme 4 and 6 boards, and I liked the extra Marvel Sata III ports. Now that the Intel Sata II ports are suspect, this is an even better thing to have in my opinion since I have 6 Sata ports I can used instead of just 2.

I also disabled full screen logo during bootup so I dont have to see the face. Yes I have to see it in the bios, but here's my standpoint. I get everything adjusted and how often am I going back into the bios after I have it set the way I want it? Probably never again.

So I didn't mind the $30 bucks I paid to get basically extra marvel sata III ports over an extreme6. To me it was worth it especially with as many drives as I have and now I don't have to buy a sata controller card for that price.

Also, that short and long turbo limits were the key to stopping the thermal throttling. I find it strange though that this is the only board with this peculiar problem and solution.

Extreme4 & 6 have short and long (W) settings as well As for stuff like thermal throttling.. I always turn that off it still doesn't really work right. Speedstep is all you really need. Extreme4 & 6 also have quite a few SATA3 ports, Extreme4 has 4, and Extreme6 has 6 I think. In the UK at least, the P67 Fatality is stupidly priced @ £200+, the Extreme6 @ £150, and the Extreme4 @ £115. With all the stuff crammed into the Extreme4 it was too tempting to pass on otherwise I would of got the Extreme6.. still might

short and long (W) were keeping my chip throttling back though. I enabled speed step and changed the settings and away we went.

I've got 2 more questions about the ASROCK p67.

    1. Can I disable the annoying post beep from the board?
    2. Why does the board power on, off then boot normally? can I disable this?

    1.Disconnect your speaker.
    2. No idea, didnt think all boards did that but mine does it also. But just sometimes...

Its not coming through the speaker. This comes right from the board.

Yes you can (Extreme4 here). Disable Spread Spectrum and no more double-POST. Instead you'll have BCLK 99.8.
If it ain't broke... fix it until it is.

hrmm mine is already disabled. Is 1.50 or 1.70 a better bios for Pro3?

If I disable spread spectrum, I can't boot into windows at all. I still get the beep as well.

The beep is annoying but nothing major to worry about. Not like the throttling issue.

So is there anyway to keep the chip from backing to 1.6Ghz when it's idle with Speedstep on?

How about go into the Control Panel -> Power Options and set the Minimum processor state to 100%. EIST on is OK but try disabling C3/C6.
What does RealTemp show when you do that?

I would start with shipping UEFI, if you get problems, step up one UEFI version. With UEFI causing issues atm you have to try one at a time to hopefully find one thats not going to cause problems. I'm using 1.3 on my Extreme4 because its a lot less flaky than the most recent 1.5.

All the power management stuff in the bios is already disabled (c3/c6). But like the original poster in order to bypass the power usage throttle I had to enable speed step to access the long and short (w) settings which cured that.

The suggestion to change it in the control panel sounds more likely now. I'll have to check that.

Does it matter the CPU clocks down to 1.6GHz when you are just on the interwebz? The instant the CPU goes under any kind of load it shoots straight up to whatever your OC is. It does on my Extreme4 at least with the throttling options disabled.

yea thats what its doing for me too. I'd just prefer to always have it show me 4.8ghz lol. One of those things. I guess less power at idle is good.
