nice chrisch can't beat running prime at 5 ghz , i have L040B317 2600k but still waiting a few bits to intall it
@Chri$ch
What is your ambient temp.?
Nice clocks there, if I were to leave my 920 and jump on SB, I would be gunning for clocks like that...

In the process of gathering all the batches.. comparing vcores/temps etc.. So far seems like most batches hit 5ghz with 1.4-1.45v
Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?
Has anyone had any results yet from sub-zero cooling. I would be interested to see how Phase cooling goes. I have heard in that the ES didn't play well with sub-zero temps and was wondering if retails where different.
2600k L040B165
Temps are a bit of a problem though xD My 24/7 clock is 4.9 1.36v, max temp in linx is 68c
Also i can't get the board to boot into windows at x53 multi, but i'm working on it - going to check my waterblock mounting too, the big difference in core temps makes me think it's not 100% on right
Holy cow, running prime at 5200 is like wtf...
SBB: I've seen a few screen shots where core 0 on Sandy Bridge is being reported up to 10C lower than the rest of the cores. I think this is just sensor error and nothing to be concerned about. On the Core i7-900 series, Intel used to offset the core at the other end of the CPU so it frequently reported 5C lower when the CPU was equally loaded. Check enough screen shots and you will see what I mean.

My batch is L040B208, will update with results later tonight... installing windows now .
That's what I've been saying...

hehehhe ... Few months back, people were saying that OC would be impossible on Sandy ... Next time somebody say so, please tell them to "Sh.T up"
we worked hard to get here, but well, 5Ghz on air is pretty cool, no?

The credits goes to all the intel people who worked on SandyB and its process technology, many many awesome people. from Architects, to circuit designers, Process tech , Fab people .. it is thousands of people. Nobody can do this by himself, this is team work!
900 Millions transistors beating at 5Ghz, air cooled ... wow!
DrWho, The last of the time lords, setting up the Clock.
I said this somewhere else already, might as well look like a fanboy here too...
The I7-2600K is a phenomenal chip, 25% more speed than my I7-920 @ 4.3, and nearly 50% more efficient*. I get the same to lower temps on a $50 air cooler and a single fan than I did with a noisy MCP355 pump and 3 gentletyphoons on a 3x120 rad.
I think the 2600K should be featured on the next Modern Marvels on TV. :-)
* Under 100% load on my I7-920 @ 4.3, HWMonitor reported 152W processor power, The I7-2600K shows 98W at peak when running at 4.8 1.4V load. That's progress in my book.

DrWho: I as AMD man must say, OC SB with air is really awesome! Its +500- 600 MHz OC up from last CPU generation!
btw., say more about Z68 chipset, where will be launch?

Looks like my prediction of 4.8 ~ 5.0GHz stable OCs on air for SB were quite accurate. MUST RESIST BUYING...
It's not like I'd need more CPU power than what I already have but the thought of up to 5GHz overclock on air is very tempting. ^^
DrWho> What do you think about runnings 32nm chips like these everyday at 1.4~1.45v though? Just asking for your personal opinions, I know it's difficult to say how resistant the chips are but maybe you know of some tests they've done in the lab at extreme voltages for extended periods perhaps.
