I suspected the old enemy of condensation that killed it, but also my CWT 1300Watter psu was on the brink of dying @ that time. Few times MIVE gave an "overvoltage warning" in bios

Interesting personal observation from all these 2600Ks are

Most of >54Xs s/n last two digits are in between 80~99

A few cpu came with a square heatsink imprint which indicated that Intel did randomly test its sb chip (and mostly is a dud)

that's not the VID, I think that's the vcore you're reading.

use realtemp 3.67 and click the toggle at top right while at 3.4 ghz. Double check it there and make sure you have power states/c1e/c3/c6 disabled.

That's the lowest VID I've seen (at stock)....
Yet my VID at 5 ghz is 1.3611...(in bios and RT).

Guess at one point RT is stop checking and saying 1.3611 for everything.
Able to boot @56multi with Ait cooling.
Soon will be watercooling thsi machine for quieter use. And will see what's going on.

Still hard to stable it @48Multi and above with air.

RAM is 2x4GB 1.65v so... yepp.
is it bad for the VTT to be 1.051 when the Dv is 1.65. diff >0.45

So, after having so many bad luck with the 2600K, I'm selling my last one and move to 2500K for a change. I know I will miss the HT and 1MB additional L3 cache, but heck with that. Just came back from MC with a new 2500K L101B483 batch and we'll see if this is good or bad. If it's also bad, I'm gonna sell all the SB components and go back to 1366...heheehe...more a joke, but seriously, this SB is probably not for me.

Edit: Just stress-testing a basic OC of CPU Level Up 4.6Ghz on the M4E. Hope it can pass this basic OC. If it does, then I will try a higher speed and see how it goes.

So far it's running very cool! With 4.6Ghz using 1.352v (as shown on CPU-Z), it's showing: 56-57-59-55 with 100% CPU usage (Prime95'ed).

I'm only able to get this to OC to 5Ghz (50x100) at 1.512v (using Offset at +.200) with everything else at Auto. It begins to dawn on me that it may not be any CPUs I've got. Maybe it's my two boards.

I dont get a very good OC on my 2500K. I havent done much tweeking but some quick and dirty OC'ing by just wratcheting up everything and setting it to even 45X or more and its not stable. Anyone got any ideas for me because I have followed the OC guides but I still havent seen a good stable OC over about 4.5 Ghz. Maybe its my WS revolution board. Iono.

2500K batch # 3101A127.

Letting Asus utility do a quick OC from the desktop it sets me up at 4.2Ghz and 1.195V. What does this info tell me exactly in terms of OC ability? Anything?

Your max multi will more likly be [multi without PLL ov ] + 5. So if you can do 50x without PLL ov you 55x will be your max multi.

I have a silverstone zues 750zf (3yrs old)and silverstone strider gold 80 750watts (brand new) on my end and will be initially testing the OCing on the strider 80, in this case would the PSU matter in overclocking or its not really a concern ?
