I replace my 2600K and wanted to try a 2500K this time. No tweaking at all.
1.36v set in bios. Dont care about the timings, i can press it down to 7-7-7-20 1T and that should do something in S-pi

How much voltage is too much volts for air cooling? Right now I am able to get my 2600k(L042B243) with 1.5V for 5ghz and 1.525 for 5.2ghz.
I wouldn't be do 1.5 for 5ghz when you can do 4.7-9 for less then 1.4v.

SB seems to have both stronger and weaker in every batch... although some batch(s) seem to be a little more consistent than others.
I tested three from ...C106
~ VID
1@ 1.250v
1@ 1.245v
1@ 1.210v
I've been holding on to the 1.210v sample... seems to boot 54x but not 55x
and I'm not sure where/what the max bclk frequency is for it?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=1539
another nice ...C124 sample...
High multi (bootable) chips 56x(+) are pretty rare and randomly chip dependent.
If bumping vcore doesn't help with booting 56x then you may be able to get to 5.6 range via bclk.
Ryzen 9 on the test bench... Sometimes older generation/tech as well.
Sweet spots for gem 2600K are 54X and 55X, it needs BCLK 107+ and 105+ respectively to compete with 980X @ >6Ghz. Then again rams should be able to run @ high BCLK
56X and 57X are those 2500/2600K that are 5.8+Giger

Got really tired of the problem resuming from S3 sleep with Internal PLL Overvoltage on for 4.9ghz with 1.36v set in bios, 1.4v load under linX.
Currently settling for 4.8ghz with PLL off so the S3 resume from sleep doesn't require a hard power off ond restart:
Internal PLL Overvoltage: Off
Memory Frequency: DDR3-2133mhz
Load-Line Calibration: Extreme

Vcore 1.32v set in bios, ranges 1.32v idle to 1.36v max under linX,

I'm going to pickup some 2500k and 2600k at Microcenter , Any one here have experience with batch code number lately at MC ?
Which MC? At the Twin Cities/Saint Louis Park, MN, there are four batches currently available: L040B305, L042B208/243 and L050A853. Neither of these are great OCers, by the way. I have the L050A853 and it seems to be the better among them. But then again, it could just be my crappy board. Who knows since I don't have two boards to compare, I really don't know.

Think its just random luck guys, I have a L050A864 & its a champ

I've tested a few of the L050A853 and some of them are quite decent but as with most SB batch(s) there is both stronger and weaker samples out there.
I would consider that batch if it were available at your MC... also another decent batch that may still be at some MC is the L041C108 batch.
Ryzen 9 on the test bench... Sometimes older generation/tech as well.
Has anyone tried an L040B705 ?

Many of us here have gone through many chips before getting one that really cranks beyond multi 55 so yes we tend to want to keep them around.
