    ^^Under subzero...yes, most newer batch will do 1.35~1.39 Vcore bios @ 5Ghz

a 2600K that can go 5.8GHz+ under subzero not necessarily can do 5Ghz stable on air/water with less than 1.395Vcore...and vice versa

Heres (4) 2600K samples from different batches/ Gigabyte UD7-B3 Single stage cooling @ -15C evap temp. idle...Lynx non avx

    1st. cpu maxed @ 51X and 5140Mhz wall with 1.375Vcore bios LLC7 for 50x100BCLK

    2nd. cpu maxed @ 57X and 5758Mhz wall with 1.365Vcore bios LLC7 for 50x100BCLK

    3rd. cpu maxed @ 58X and 5805Mhz wall with 1.35Vcore bios LLC7 for 50X100BCLK

    4th. cpu maxed @58X and 5850Mhz wall with 1.35Vcore bios LLC7 for 50X100BCLK

mmm will you be selling any good ones soon dumo?

How big is your phase change? I have sourced a 3/8 HP unit, will this be enough for a good 2600K?

How much volts are you using at max clocks?

Its an old Vapochill LS stock unmoded and it still can hold 2600K HT on oc'd.

For max. clock I use 1.585~1.644 Vcore load windows (max LLC) depend on the chip

I had vcore up to 1.7 last night trying to get my chip to pass 3D11 at 5400 , it seems like cold is the way to go.

    PM question coming too.

Yes. in general cold will help stability with less Vcore (it won't raise Mhz wall) as long as chip is free of cold bug

Heres chip with absolute wall @ 5230Mhz with zubzero/air/water.

Passed all benches 3Ds or 2Ds with 4C/8T near its max. Mhz wall

Some of higher Mhz. wall 2600K chip won't even do 4C/8T at 100Mhz. less than its maximum wall...

I didnt specify enough info. I am running a 2500k with air cooling (archon)

4.5 is stable at 1.312 linx and prime, but 4.7ghz takes 1.392 for prime and LLC brings Linx with AVX up to 1.408v.

I wanted to run my 2600K on 4GHz (for 24/7) use.
Got it OC'ed now and set the Vcore to 1.250 v (CPU-z always seems stuck at the wrong voltage for me... ???).
    Are these temps OK?

    well done dumo.
    but seriously u should try LinX/AVX on W7 SP1.

my chip is able to pass LinX/ non AVX on 5.0GHz @ 1.48v
    whereas LinX/ AVX on 5.0GHz @ 1.54v

more heat is generated & core temps are increased 10C+.
CPU-Z power draw is increased from 130w+ to 150w+.

I was 10 hour prime stable at 4.7Ghz v1.392-1.412 (depending on load conditions), but Linx w/AVX failed after 20 minutes. At that point I gave up on 4.7Ghz and went back to 4.5Ghz where LinX is stable at v1.312-1.332

Finally I need about 1,336v to get 4,5Ghz stable 12 hour prime (64 bits).

I think this is a bad one

Very nice clocks, yep and we are pretty similar on 24/7 settings! I was trying to find, but is there any write up specifically for the maximus iv board for the voltages, there are quite a few settings which I bet would work well to lower the vcore a bit on mine.

Your costa is a good one too Andre

Imo, different in maximum multi on each of sb cpu (even from the same batch) have something to do with how quick throttling will start...

Take a look @ cpu #1 and cpu #3 above....running with the same mobo under single stage cooling and almost identical bios settings (vcore a bit different)...pay attention to cores temp on ea. chip. @ load...

cpu #3 can bench 4C/8T at -/+ 10 Mhz from its maximum Mhz. wall whereas the other 3 need significantly less Mhz to be able to bench Vantage, '06 or Wprime 4C/8T

I think Intel put a lock on internal throttling mechanism inside the cpu cores and ea. 2600K/2500K has different Mhz wall or core temperature limit which can trigger throttle...wonder if software mod. can open it up....like this http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showth...and-Workaround

Thanks Dumo but aint Costa Rica its Malay L045B836 for me the best chips, never tested a C batch from CRica but all others do the same they hit x55 at high high volts and they are stable at 5GHz on high volts, some are heaters some not

thanks for the info but aint that for mobile CPUs ?

I'm just about to find out throttle stop proggy

Vcore scaling or more cooling will be a non factor at certain point

Theres must be some explanation of why (2) 2600Ks with the same batch and a few digits serial # difference have totally different Mhz. wall...and I think this trend will carry on to SB-E and Ivy bridge too

Are all those runs on water? When I dint have water, with all settings on auto, I was increasing the multi and I went up till 5.2ghz (and I dint want to go higher), I'm yet to try anything higher then 5ghz, I guess I'll give it a shot tonight.

    Those are some xtreme clocks

I was wondering how can I know the cpu's wall? and how do we determine which batch was manufactured where?
