Hey fellas
Had a bit of a play with 4way GTX580 today and after a bit of trouble shooting and some interesting findings, I did a few runs in vantage and Unigine Heaven. Man these 580s are monster power guzzlers. I tripped my house power twice today and then decided to run two separate plugs from garage and bench room which sorted that out LOL. I'm still only testing at light loads.
I also found 12V rail getting hammered on input with the PSU powering the CPU and a couple of GPUs dropping and drooping on 12V rail pretty seriously. I saw 11.78v on corsair and then swapped to Antec which took an even bigger hit but since you can adjust the rail manually i compensated for it.
Hardware setup:
- GIGABYTE X58A-UD9
- Intel Core i7 980X
- C-BuZz SS -30C
- Kingston HyperX
- WD 600GB SATA3 VelociRaptor
- 4x GIGABYTE GTX580 GPUs on water (Corsair Nautilus 500 with extra rad, 3x swiftech + 1x Dtek GPU blocks)
- Corsair AX1200 + Antec TP1200
- Windows 7 32bit
Very nice thermal paste for watercooling, virtually no delta even with my ghetto WC setup . Had a 33C ambient today and GPUs were idling at 37C with volts and forced 3D mode, higher under load by a few degrees, especially the dual rad setup.
Still using my trusty Corsair Nautilus 500s with a bit of help
I used 3x Swiftech blocks and one Dtek, still doing a great job (who needs full cover blocks when you can butcher heatsinks (j/k)
Got a world record in HWBOT Unigine Heaven with 4804 points , I'm sure this will shoot past 5K once LN2 starts cranking on GPUs

The benchmark looks absolutely amazing, such a breath of fresh air from what I'm used to seeing with FM benchmarks and it actually works lol. I spent two hours today just trying to get combined score on 3DMARK11 to finish and could not, kept getting errors even at stock settings....wtf FM
note to self, dont play with VM values in windows again on 3D OSes lol
