Friend Can't Register

I have a bud at my school who wants to register at XS. He put in all of his information and hit continue, or whatever, and it told him his email was banned by the administrator! He used another email with the same result, so I let him try one of my emails. STILL, the same result came up. I emailed Ashraf, but after a couple days I haven't gotten a reply. Could someone help me? I have an email and username he'd like to use that I'll disclose in a PM.

The registration process is no longer accepting Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and other free email accounts. A business or school email address will go through the process.

lol I'm not sure gmail even existed when I joined!

Anyway, I think this is deterring honest people more then the spammers. I really hate it when a site doesn't accept normal email addresses, and I quickly leave unless I really, really want to join.

Ya, I have 2 friends that are trying to sign up & they dont have an isp email nor do they have a school addy.

So what is going to be the solution to this? Is XS just going to turn their backs on these people? I have had several referrals on this site & all of these members have turned out to be beneficial to our community.

If other members are referring them, let the registration process go thru ONLY if the referral box is filled in & a PM sent to the referring member.

@ Ash: I know it was not your decision & I understand why it was done. I am hoping that maybe between Dave & you, this post can get sent to the big dog for food for thought.

Well both of these people live in house where they don't have access to the isp's email they are on(all the emails are already in use). They are in a weird situation. Trust me, after seeing this thread, I went to both of them & talked about it. That's when I came back here & made my post.

Yes i have this problem too, i have a friend who Boards room from a family, uses there internet... All he has is his Hotmail, could a 500Post plus vouch rule go into play?

Cause I remember when I tried to register on i4memory.com I had to use my parents' email address since I wouldn't take both of the addresses I tried before.

It's not a vBulleting limitation, this is a limitation directly put in place by the Admin(s).

The problem is that whenever you share your Internet with somebody (or that somebody shares it with you ) or aren't 100% sure on wether you will keep that ISP for a long time, its not good to use that ISP email. If you use gmail or hotmail, instead, you are sure that no matter how many times you change your ISP you will still have that email adress.

Of course, I do understand why that rule is in place....but you should try to make it a little more user-friendly so that people who don't have ISP email can also join.
