USB3 PCIe card with/without seperate power connector

I want to upgrade my PC to use USB3 and I can get a simple PCIe card to do the job. Is it better to get the one that has a seperate power connector sata/molex compared those that do not.

USB can provide up to 500mA per connector, which for two connectors totals 5 Watts.

I don't see any reason for a card to have a separate power connector for such a small amount of power.

    I have used them before

Back in the good old days of USB 1.1 when I upgraded to USB 2 using a PCI card it did not have a seperate power connector and that had 4 usb slots.

The only thing I can think of is it will charge your Iphone even when your PC is turned off or at least provide enough power to charge your itouch/ipad instead of drawing from the Mother Board!

I might have to upgrade my PSU as I have 6HD, 2DVD, 9600GSO and 7 fans, all on a HuntKey 400W POS.
