Realtek network chips are going to have a "Bigfoot Killer" sticker now, just like audio chips have X-FI stickers :P

LOL, probably. Good idea, though. Doubt many people buy Killer NICs, but that way they can sell at least some chips, and MSI buyers will get quality products. As long as the price's ok...

Well at the mo, isn't a KillerNIC about £100?

None of these boards will be cheap if thats the case. Even bundling to save on packaging/ transport/ some of marketing still leaves EASILY £60 per card

MSI included real X-Fi chips on some boards in the past, so I HOPE they're not doing this like ASUS style.

I would rather they include a quality Intel NIC instead.

You speak as if MSI hasn't tested it against their onboard.People never even touched it let alone benched it but it sucks, where is the proof ,wow player love it the extra 10 fps.

Nevermind slightly lower CPU load or bigger FPS, what about 10~15% lower pings (say 60 vs 66~68ms or 90ms instead of 100~105ms) would already be an aid for me in FPS games like UT series) versus realtek onboard? That would be sweet and I don't think entirely impossible when looking how crap the Realtek onboard is. KillerNIC doesn't seem to be any faster than an Intel nic that I've seen in several tests though.

I'm not very well versed in the subject, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Isn't the path to the your local modem/router too short to account for even 1ms? How could you possibly get such an improvement if you're trying to fix a bottleneck that is in another place entirely?

Well it seems to make difference with the traffic shaping, how it handles the packets. Ofc might bring better improvement for some ISPs and connections than others depending how it's set up.

So get an intel PCIE NIC for like 40 bucks. Killer NIC doesn't do squat beyond that.

It's an interesting product, but it doesn't produce results.

Kinda surprised they are still in business. This must have been huge for someone to score this deal at Bigfoot. Lucid and Bigfoot better be loving MSI but I think MSI's marketing to gamers doesn't need this extra crap. So I looked this card up on newegg it sells for $77 and is being sold under Visiontek? Did Visiontek buy Bigfoot or something? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833189002 I don't think I'd buy anything from Visiontek or Bigfoot unless it was free to be honest.

Well if it's bundled it has to be cheaper than it is as a separate product, MSI can't charge $100 extra for including the killernic, maybe $50 at most for that part or else consumers wouldn't accept it. Ofc I wouldn't ever pay like $100 for a NIC but maybe $50 as a bundle. Not like I'd get this highend MSI board that would include it in first place though but yea bundles can save you some cash compared to having to buy them as separate products.

When somebody makes a "gaming" wifi chip and bluetooth, charges 3x the price for it, and blings it out, you can bet they will integrate that. Slap some LED's on it as well.

interesting, so MSI is going to be including a PowerPC board with their x86_64 motherboards. I can already see some creative viruses that could make use of it.

Not knocking the quality I just don't trust them, I never seem to know if they are out of business or not. Seems as though they'll release x number of cards then they wont ship anything for months. Or not sell a complete generation of cards altogether.
