Hey guys,
When overclocking memory I used to use memtest86 and memtest86+.
But out of convenience I started using Win7 memory diagnostic tool.
Is this a sufficient tool for testing stability of memory?
Thanks,
Drizzt

I'd stick with memtest, even Linx/IBT stresses memory quite well..
Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

+1 memtest86+
I never tried the windows 7 memtest tool I've always used memtest86+, I have for years, I trust it well, and it's very well know & used by most.

Try run command rate 1, if not its ok.. I havent overclocked a 775 since my old Q9650, use to love overclocking back then was alot more trickier compared to now... Anyways leave timings loose find your Highest overclock and tighten timings once your happy with your overclock..

HCI memtest (its a windows GUI) WAY better than memtest86/+

Yeah, number of instances equals number of cores. Just make sure to assign (total memory - size allocated by Windows)/number of cores to avoid testing your pagefile instead of memory. Failing to do so will lead to Memtest writing to the pagefile more than actually stressing the memory.

Any memory test that run under gui or windoze will never beat memtest86+ in term of range and flexibility.
Just a simple example, how the heck that program able to test the ram occupied by windows os kernel or other bloated os code that is not swappable ? Guess you will never understand this either, don't you ?
Is HCI Memtest an in-OS memory tester? I'd love one of those so I can do quick tweaks.
Signatures make my posts look huge... but I'm not humble enough to completely remove my signature, so I kept this note explaining it.

Yeah, your screwed if the memory error just happens to be used up by the OS.
This is why it is much better to use a program that uses as small of a footprint as possible, so you can test ALL your RAM, not just X - OS - all the other drivers/resident programs that got loaded.
I always start testing with a blend test using Prime95 and a mem test using Burn In. After finding stable options, I verify using memtest. It is just my process, but it seems to treat me well.
