But it still doesn't support voltage changes?... It acts like it does, even confirms volts but it doesn't really change anything.
Any info on any software that does allow voltage gains? Uncle Fester On Kingpin cooling mentioned his 6970 was limited by software to 1.25v and got 1100+ mhz out of it.

I have 5.74 doesn't work on there either. It acts like it. But no boost.

@jimmyz
I not sure too for Voltage changes or not because GPUZ and other still show
1.175V max but Smartdoc like it work
@Gaul
Hey mate now i checking on ASUS site it 5.74 version, please checking it again http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...L1h&templete=2

using asus smartdoctor 5.74 here and the "Overclocking range enhancement" option definitely works for me. it even extends the range in CCC

The issue isn't whether it supports it or not the issue is there is no Voltage increase even though it acts like it adds it, it even changes the displayed voltage and confirms in a seperate dialog box. So Asus thinks it is working. We all need to hound them for voltage support, After all it is listed on the box!
They must think it works. Only explanation that I can think of why it seems to function but doesn't really affect voltage.
SO please everyone contact them and inform them of this.. One person reporting a problem gets overlooked easy.

Uncle Fester doesn't mention any issues..Also he mentions being held to 1.25v in software? so If one of you guys knows him get us the scoop.

I grabbed this asus 6950 bios and applied W1zzard's unlock batch (link)
The modded bios is here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0P3NBAXK
Smart doctor overvolt is working fine, but gpu-z still reads 1.1v
I think it's the same bios they used on the pctuning article that someone sent them
doing some test now to check wheather the power limits kicks in to lower frequencies

Perhaps gpuz is displaying entered data from a database rather than live updated data I have a multi meter but no card (waiting on ship yet) and don't know where among all the tiny delicate contact points I'd find the gpu voltage anyway.

1Mhz higher
I bought an HD 6970 on the day of purchase for as cheap as I could - 270 including free delivery from Ebuyer.
This gave me the sapphire version. Today I modified an old HD4870 waterblock with a hacksaw, and got the card working underwater. This has dropped temps massively.
I used some of the stick on heatsinks (designed for ram chips really) for the mosfets so the card is cooled better in this regard as well.
I then flashed the bios with the ASUS version to give the voltage tweakability with smartdoctor. I also increased the powertune to +20 percent.
So far I have got the core stable at 1025. I'm sure there is more here too, subject to tweaking and testing. This gives over 2400 3dmarks - see below. That's better than a stock GTX580
I am not unpleased with this card. Next plan is to get the memory up further.
1500+ on the memory is easily doable with no voltage increase.
well I just tried it and the voltage control works I got 1000/1400 at 1.3 but it's not the best solution since it takes to long for the voltage to be applied at startup and it's easy to crash in the meantime. Temps seem alot lower with the 6950 modded bios compared to the asus 6970one. Which seems odd considering the voltage is higher.

I thought that the Asus BIOS disables powertune completely on all their cards, isn't that right? Isn't what that translated review said? And they said with the modded BIOS, they had problems with powertune throttling the card?
Maybe that's why the temps are lower?
I think that once a 6950 is modded to the highest possible level currently, which is with the Asus 6970 bios, the only physical difference remaining is the powertune level.
The 6950 powertune envelope is less than the 6970 even after the flash. This can be partially mitigated by increasing the powertune slider to +20 percent in CCC>
Theoretically the 6970 will have better headroom in this regard since it also allows +20 percent on top of it's envelope.
How this small remaining advantage of the HD69070 will relate to real-world performance, I'm not sure.
