    Sli 470, 570 or wait for 595

I'm looking at the nvidia Fermi for it's computing power in CUDA and OpenCL. So far I see that the SLi 470 is the better deal performance/dollar.

What about the 570, is it basically the same card or can I expect performance increases through drivers.

Also, any info on the GTX595 would help. If it's anything like two 570s in sli and under $600 then I assume it would give me great performance for the money.

I'm 1920x1200 - currently have a GTX 470 and a 5850. Thinking of selling both and getting a 570 or 6970. I'm NVidia biased - mostly due to them historically being cooler, quieter and having better drivers. Thoughts?

1080p. Although for the rendering stills probably around 4K resolution, and for realtime probably around 800x600 with full effects, raytracing, global illumination, subsurface scattering... etc.

It would be for VRAY RT, Octane, Indigo 2.4 when GPU support is finally out of beta. No preference on the rendering software since currently only using Cinema 4D built in render and Indigo for rough work.

What's the price on the GTX 460 dual from Zotac? Never heard about it launching.

Im 1920 x 1200 with GTX470 SLI and an i7 at 4.4ghz day to day clock. Plays BC2 at max everything 32xAA easily on 32 player servers. Metro 2033 can run max everything except AA - that's the only game I can think of where 570 sli would offer you any improvement in gameplay. I only run a moderate 750/1800 overclock at default volts - higher oc is pointless as it only gains me more vsync tearing in BC2 and higher AA was still below 50fps in metro 2033.

Rendering is a different kettle of fish though - more is always better. The 570's in sli have significantly more horsepower especially when overclocked. If you can afford it then go for it.

[EDIT - Just re-read your post and realised you were comparing 470 sli to a single 570. Definitely go for 470 sli its way faster than a single 570.]

    No I meant SLI 470 vs SLI 570. I like the 570 but it's $350 apiece. The 470 I can get for $260 apiece.

Is the 570 worth an extra 35% more cash?

hmmm dont know if the 470 sli vs 570 sli is even worth asking which is better, you know that answer yourself.

as to is it worth it?? I would say yes.
while I dont have the 570, what I do have is the 580...this is coming from 2x 480s under water cooling..

I spent a lot of time thinking over this...cost, perfromnace etc etc... and when it finally came time..I just pulled the trigger.

Im glad I did... the performance of the 500 series over the 400 series is substantial enough that the gains are very noticable.

before the two galaxy 580GTX's I tested were put under water, I put them through the paces and its was an incredible differance in cooling alone.

I say..just do it..pull the trigger on the 2x 570s, once you have them installed and are enjoying the shear performance of the cards, then you will be smiling and know you have made the right choice.

if you do the 2x 470s ..you will always wonder what if???

your only talking 180.00 ish for the set more over the 470s. Ive had them all..the 470/480 and now the 580..

So I checked out some benchmarks (anadtech and another site, i forget). The 570 has about a 20-30% advantage over the 470 in computation. Might be worth the extra cash over the 470 when nvidia releases more driver improvements.

Why not 480 SLI since those are relatively cheap now? Except for power consumption, they still offer a lot of raw power especially if you overclock.

If you have room in your case, get SLI for better cooling. If tight on space, the 595 may be better.

Wait for the 560 coming out mid- to late January. If the specs are to be believed it will be an awesome card for the $.

Get either GTX470, then, or GTX465 and unlock it into GTX470 (with some luck).
Buy as many cards as you want (and can afford).

If the 570 offers similar performance then its a better deal because it's cheaper than a 480 here in Canada.

Slow down, he mentioned he needed quite a bit of GPGPU performance. The GTX480 is still the faster card for CUDA (5xx has certain things such as ECC removed), and unless he wants to spend a lot on Quadro cards he isn't going to get better than n GTX480(s) (although depending on the task at hand, GTX295s might come close or surpass a GTX480).

Proof that GTX580 has "certain things removed"? According to Anand all the caches and GPGPU stuff is in place.
