and sometimes being CHEAP bites you in the back side.

Grrrr... just spent about 10 hours of my life (and will never get back) setting up this cruncher with an i7-950, Jetway BI-600, 6gB Corsair 1600, PCPC 750W and that BI-600 board was not even worth the $110 I bought it for.

Completely sucks, unstable when set at "Fail Safe Settings Enabled" in BIOS and won't POST when set at "Optimal Settings Enabled" in BIOS.

Won't OC, won't do anything. CPU voltage looks all over the place. Can't run WCG for 20 minutes at stock speed. Temps all good, memory set to 1066, just crap.

Don't want to flash bios because Jetway can't have a 21st Century BIOS utility like everyone else.

And can't return it... I bought it months ago from Newegg and it's been sitting in a closet til this weekend.

So... board to become frisbee and I'm going to buy a normal board.

    UD3R? Sabertooth? Biostar X58?

I have a GA-X58A-UD3R as a crunching and gaming rig. I love it. Beats the heck out of my P6T, on many levels. Very nice bios, very functional. Got my 960 to an easy 4GHz 24/7 with it. Sli or crossfire too.
Take that BI-600 to the rifle range...

I like the UD3R personally, I have 3 crunching now, all heavily overclocked for some time now with no problems (knocks on wood)

I'm thinking that UD3R looks good (functionally, not aesthetically). What are the temps on it?

yes it seems the UD3R is quite the "Swiss Army Knife" of boards... it has everything, does everything and clocks average to above average. And reliable.

If you take off the nameplates they put on the heatpipe sinks, the temps are good. I have had many x58 boards and the gigabytes are great, the UD3R is about the "best bang for your buck' board there is.

I looked at that refurb'd EVGA too... maybe we can both try one. Otherwise I'll probably get the Sabertooth.

I'll be interested to hear how the EVGA works for you, looked at that board myself but decided to pocket the extra $$

I'm still happy with the Asus Sabertooth, OCed a 950 to 4gHz without changing anything other than BLCK and lowered CPU volts to 1.24. Runs cool, has the the bells and whistles and the $100 price is awesome.

wait what?!?! my evga is $75 AR. the sabertooth is $200, where did you get it for $100?

And how in the world did you lower vcore AND get to 4ghz? on my msi pro-e i have to give it ~1.28
are either of these normal situations?

Memory express had a sale on, the EVGA board was $124 and the Sabertooth $99. Maybe I got the superduper sale price=wrong price

I didn't do anything Shoota, but set the voltage of CPU and QPI to 1.24 and 4Ghz and booted her up. She hasn't rebooted or encountered any errors yet, I have not had any time to play with it yet to see what I can get out of her.
Oh and the CPU Temp is 65 with that stupid Ninja 3 cooler.

Well I'd say you got quite the good deal. Sabertooth for $100 is a no brainer. I gotta deal with a $50 rebate. We'll see how good evga is with those cuz I am now waiting on two rebates from them.
