Stasio/Sin (I respect your opinions the most), are you comfortable running voltages like 1.43+ for 24/7? I see all kinds of opinions. Some seem ridiculously reserved and others are a little over the edge thinking their chips are invincible. I'm running an NHD-14 and right now I'm at 4.6 ghz set to 1.39v with llc 7 and cpuz reads 1.404v under prime load stable at max 78c. Also running the cpu pll at 1.78. Seems kinda warm... Also these llc's since the 10 level bios all seem to act very strange to me. They spring high under small loads then draw down under full 100%..

yea they are a bit odd. um your voltages seem fine, as long as your load voltage is under 1.45v you should be in the safe zone.

Thanks Sin. Yeah just over 1.4 full load. I'm running boinc so it's under stress quite a bit. Don't want to ruin her before ivy comes out. I may try to trim down that 78c. Can run a bit cooler at at 4.5ghz.. I haven't liked easy tune since the early 2000's. Is there any decent software oc app I can use on the fly that's not gonna clash with my bios settings? Kinda need the speed for cpu dependent gaming and then downclock again to turn boinc on. I'm a software oc nub, I have always preferred bios overclocking.

Kroegs,as Sin say, your voltage is OK.
TouchBIOS (must restart) and ET6 (on fly) is now only app (with IME).
    Try and see.

Ok thanks guys, thanks a ton. I'm gonna give the latest et6 a try. Another thing that I've just noticed as although I have lowered the voltage and brought my speed to 4.5 under load (currently boinc cosmology@home) the voltage read on cpuz says the same as it did with 4.6 at the higher voltage. Anyone else experience this?

4.5ghz voltage set 1.375 llc 7 cpuz load read: 1.404v

4.6ghz set 1.39 llc 7 cpuz read under load 1.404

    Bios f6c p67a-ud7-b3

again thanks a lot for all your efforts guys.

    Sin and stasio:
I really wish you guys could ask GB to release a new bios to help stabilize the erratic LLC levels, on the P67 and Z68 boards (p67 UD5 B3), especially at high vcores and low/high loads.
As others have said, at low overclocks and low vcore, multi step is okay, but at high overclocks and voltages, it's too erratic...the vcore will swing up a *lot* at very light loads and then go to "where it's supposed to" at heavy loads.

It's not funny to have LLC7 1.425v in Bios, with 1.440v in prime blend, 1.428v in Prime small FFT, and have the vcore jump to 1.484v in a single threaded game >_>

F3G was the last good Bios with very stable Vcore (while LLC1 had big droop at high vcore, LLC2 was always +.024v above Bios setting at full load, which was very nice). But F3G doesn't support 22nm CPU, and has boot loop problems with S3/PLL Overvoltage, and Reset button and Memory fixes needed, so I have to use F7....

    Please ask them.
It isn't hard for them to do.
At least they can release a *beta* that REMOVES some of the LLC levels, and maybe puts back 3 decent, reliable LLC levels (like the old LLC2 used to be, but maybe a little less vrise...that would be PERFECT).

Is it to much to ask? Is GB really too busy to make a fix for us?

this is why I sold my UD7 and UD4, no support just half as**d bios that had botched LLC levels.

I got pretty tired of waiting for a fix, and now a year later they still don't have it fixed, and Ivy is around the corner.

Damn, I have had it with the GA-Z68X-UD7, nothing than troubles. From the beginning I have had some USB probs. Now after 6 months it's starting to lock up, no BSOD or an event in the Event Log. It just freezes, sometimes the lights on my keyboard go out, somtimes not. But I have to cut the power to be able to turn the computer off. Seems to have problems with the SSD now too, as once it said that there was no boot disk. Turned the power off and on and then it booted. I can't get into the BIOS with an USB keyboard, I have to use a PS/2 one. What worries me is that this board was already made EOL after about being 6 months on the market. Maybe there were too many issues with? New motherboard will be Asus for me.

I'm still using the F5 version. I'm a bit hesitant to flash this Z68 board to F9, since my Gigabyte X58A-UD7 didn't even reboot after I flashed it (and I did do it correctly). But I'm going to flash it now in a few days anyway, since I got not much of the choice. If it doesn't work out, I'll just buy an Asus. When I swapped the P67A-UD7 for the Z68 version, it took Gigabyte almost 2 months to give me the new motherboard. I'm not going to do that again.

Ohhh that is interesting, I was just thinking the other day I wouldn't mind giving IB a go on my old B2 UD5 however I would have to upgrade to the latest BIOS to do so & like others I too hate the 10 level LLC. Maybe I could edit/disable the multi-step LLC & re-enable the old levels with the new UD5 BIOS...... worth a go me thinks, cheers for the heads up Stasio

Yes, I did update the SSD firmware some time ago. Not sure if it would be a good idea to use a F10a version for the motherboard. Would a final F9 version better to sort out problems?

Try first with F9 (flash Main and Backup BIOS).
    USB "should be OK".
Are you running Default or Overclock?

Stasio: sounds good. Please keep us posted. Many thanks.
    (I'm using a P67 UD5 B3 currently with F7 bios).

(now I know how Sin managed to get like 30 LLC levels. He somehow had the original LLC1 and 2 enabled with multi step, lol...)

(Btw I Got bored and downloaded the editor, but it said the bios file (tried F7 and f3g) does not seem to be valid, and when I hit continue anyway, there were a bunch of errors, and I only see weird ascii fields in the same area where you are at (setup menu)), though the very first tab/field for bios id version/name and some other info works....

You need the v1.25 patch that can be found here http://bios.rom.by/ROMutils/Award/awdbedit/re1_25.zip but still its not advisable to edit & flash using awdbedit.

Yea,you should have plugins and skins all in the same folder, choose "All files".
    Link is here:

    Btw,
    link above is also good.
You can only see,I never try to change.
Maybe Sin can help you(as Lsdmeasap is outstation atm),with new modded BIOS.

Can someone tell me why after only 6 months the Z68X-UD7-B3 is already "end of line",for a flagship motherboard this is a very short lifespan.??

I have been wondering about this myself. Especially since they did not release a new motherboard to replace it.

I just flashed my motherboard to bios F9. Let's see if this one will work correctly. I just checked and it is still not possible to get into the BIOS with my USB keyboard. PS/2 works fine. This is pretty strange considering it used to be possible for my to get into the BIOS with my USB keyboard.

To chip in my 2c worth I would have to say yes it is short for a top end board however the Z68 has been available here in the UK since May 2011 slightly longer than the P67 as it happens. I think you will probably find most manufacturers & OEM's already have Z77 chips & product build ready to go as Intel were supposed to launch the 77 at the tail end of last year but delayed it so manufacturers & OEM's could get rid of there existing stock so its not really the manufacturers issue so much as progress!!! & Intel that are to blame.

BTW moorhen I see you are from the I.O.W I'm just across the water in Lymington
