    New Catalyst 10.12

    Update:

    Final version @AMD: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloa...downloads.aspx

    Anandtech Preview
    PC Perspective preview

New Catalyst 10.12 Beta driver is available now:

    - link outdated -

    Changes:

High Quality AF Mode is new default setting for 6xxx series
New Catalyst Control Center with Explorer Style menu and shortcuts
    AMD Branded
    Support for 6900 Series

it's a huge improvement form the old CCC and a must have for everyone with an AMD (ati) card (those drop-down menus were a real PITA)

Lol, why do ppl always associate bad programming with a plaform. Original CCC was rubbish and then the idea spread like wildfire that .NET is the cause for it. Well, Paint.NET is written in .NET as well. Is it bad? No, far from it.

.NET sucks as it has to load a zillion libraries prior to loading the app itself. Plus it's sluggish stuff.

    Where is 10.12?

It even says 10.11 in the picture that you linked. I'll be sticking with 10.10e which I'm pretty sure is a newer driver anyways.

I rolled back from 10.11 to 10.10 since the drivers caused some crazy half screen flickering that required a restart to get rid of on my 5850. Hopefully these aren't so bad.

How is it different from loading the dozens of DLLs implicitly or explicitly involved in even the most basic compiled executable?

And being sluggish is a fault of the program itself. .NET has a JIT compiler that is quite reasonable, and caches quite a bit of itself in compiled form already (that's why installing it takes so long).

Since these have been posted, you may as well know: the beta drivers with Cayman cards ARE 10.12, just without a WHQL certificate. In addition, the new control panel doesn't necessarily mean they are 10.12 drivers since for the next few months, the new CCC with be rolled out IN PARALLEL with the old control panel as the kinks are worked out.

AMD's drivers need serious de-bloating. Game demo's, commercial adds, some kind of communication program to send you spam? Are you kidding me? It's almost as bad as the yahoo toolbar.
