    Dell 27" 2560x1440: $719

I wish I could justify another monitor purchase, my secondary 25.5" being 1920x1200 is killing me. I Need higher res!

For those of you who want to step up to something closer to a 30", this is affordable!

    i have an NEC 30" that's 2560x1600. Having a secondary monitor that's 2560 x ONLY 1440 is something I can deal with.

I just want a higher res, plus its IPS. My TN is ok, but doesn't compare.

having owned nothing but dell ultrasharp monitors over the last 5-6 years, I can say this... its worth every penny to spend more for it, over your standard cheapo monitor.
size means nothing, if it looks like hell.
I tried to get by with 24 inch samsungs, and viewsonics, all from my local costco, and I am sure they hate me, cause I buy these monitors and 3 days later return it, always saying the same thing.... just looks terrible.

s-ips monitors are getting harder and harder to find, but if you want quality, thats where its at.
dells one of the last that really sticks to putting out s-ips monitors.
I have never seen a TFT monitor that I liked, and I just dont think there will ever be one that compares too a good s-ips monitor.

an IPS is a kind of tft, it just means that its thin film. i think u mean that u dislike TN panels, and i agree but its so damn hard to find a 16:10 now and then one that is ips is just not happening. for me the 16:10 was more worth it over the ips since i had to pick one

Which is "better," H-IPS or S-IPS?

    I have a 30" H-IPS I wouldn't trade for the world.

If I have the cash flow, I'll either get this (granted, I hate dell as a whole) or another 30".

All 30" are 16:10. That's why I own one. I think I could live w/ a 27" though since it's still 1440 vertically. I believe NEC Still makes some 16:10 IPS monitors, but you pay so much, it's not more than an extra $100 or $200 to move up to a 30" from a 24".

    TN... thats it.
the lingo for monitors fades, since I only need a new one every few years.

    Oh gawd, dooo want.

Current U2211H with 20% discount suites me quite well, but 27" and 2560x1440 would be quite awesome.

Still rocking an old dell 2405 wfp 24inch which I bought as a refurb from a quality seller from eBay. PVA/S-PVA panels are still great bang for your bucks if you can find them. I will never use anything under 1900x1200.
