    HDMI Cable RIP-OFF $200!?!!

Hey guys my old man just bought a 3dtv 56", The guy at the store sold him a MONSTER Hdmi cable for $200 which supports like 15.6gbps or something along those lines has ethernet etc, Should i return it and get one of the 2 links ill provide below? Will it run blu-ray and the 3dtv fine?? Both have ethernet 1.4 so im not sure what is the difference between both, but i just want my dad to be happy and be issue free, I was thinking link 1 ? thanks

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

if it's 1.4 it will work fine

ever wonder why monster puts the "link speed" of the HDMI instead of the spec on their packages? well, now you know. spec is what matters

1.4 allows for 3d support which is probably going to be the main use for it

    Return the snakeoil cable.

Any functional digital cable is sufficient for its digital task.

In the meantime, order an HDMI cable on Amazon or Newegg or Monoprice.

An undamaged HDMI v1.4 cable of adequate length is always sufficient for full-quality audio, video, Ethernet, and 3D (except for 3D at 1080p60, which isn't included in HDMI v1.4).

So what would i need for it to run @1080 60hz on 3d or is that impossible? Stick with 1.4 or ?

Thanks, I feel better about the $30 I had to spend at Best Buy recently when I bought my TV. Yeah...didn't really plan ahead for that one and we wanted to try the Blu Ray player on the lappy right away.

And then two weeks later we got 40 new HP displays at work which also have HDMI and guess what they came with?

You mean 1080p120, right? 1080p60 any HDMI cable can do.

Maybe you're right; according to Wikipedia... 3D over HDMI 1080p60: No for v1.4.

Anyways, there's no signal difference between a <$20 HDMI v1.4-certified cable and an expensive ($200, for example) "fast" cable. Yes, there are occasional advantages to using thicker-gauge wire--but that's basically limited to having longer cable runs.

So I bought a cheap HDMI cable to hook up my PS3 to my HDTV. Man, the picture was blurry and it broke my tv. Cheap piece of junk.

    Just kidding.

I bought a cheap $6 and it works perfectly fine, exactly like every other HDMI cable.

If the salesman didn't meet his quota for monster cables for the day, he would have been fired and replaced by a new puppet.

Having worked for Best Buy, I couldn't agree with you more. Its a corporate issue. Just avoid them when you can.
