^I just hope this doesn't set a precedent for all netbooks.
First it was those stupid chiclet keyboards and now this.
hey. I want my extra keys for AHK!
I would prefer that the button do absolutely nothing at all. That way if I miss that 'A' key I won't get a stream of capital letters that I need to go back and correct, and I won't get a new Google search open up in my face while I'm doing work.
They don't need to remove Caps Lock to put in a search key. They could just use the good old windows key. They are messing with standards.
The problem is that people will use their chrome keyboard as a regular keyboard and use the wrong buttons. You can't have different keyboards for different computers. It has to do with standardization.
Tell that to Apple.

What!?! Caps lock is the best way to get your point across in the interwebs. There is a huge difference between omg wtf you noob vs. OMG!!!! WTF YOU NOOB!!!!
What's next? Are they going to take away the emoticons now?
We need some kind of intellectual tech that will block ALL CAPS sentences. Whether it's shift or caps lock that is being used. Now that would be nice!
This forum does it, partially (can not use caps only for the whole post, but not individual sentences), but still, not good enough.
Most laptop keyboards are already slightly different. I have four laptops at the house right now and none have exactly the same keyboard configuration. So I'm going to call foul on your theory.
I still don't get how Google changing a single key on a netbook rates as the conspiracy some of you fellas are making it out to be. My wifes new laptop doesn't have physical volume controls, should I be freaking out on a forum somewhere?
I fully support the change. I can't remember the first time I turned on caps lock...intentionally at least.

My Rig :
Core i5 4570S - ASUS Z87I-DELUXE - 16GB Mushkin Blackline DDR3-2400 - 256GB Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme
Then your keyboard somehow gets broken and types all in cap letters.
You cant push a key to not to do it cause you dont have.
???????
Get burned xD
Seriously, id rather google uses an alert sound like YEHEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOUR CAPS ARE ON! Than this.
Then you misunderstand my point. What I am saying is that the need for a device should be expressed and a device tailored to that need be released. The opposite is you get some new gadget and try to tailor your needs to the new device's capabilities.
Say you buy a kitchen device that lets you fry food in oil. You want to use it to make french fries and fried chicken. Only, the device can't do high-heat. If you drove technology, you'd return it and find a solution that can fry foods at high heat. If technology drove you, you'd give up on the missing aspect; no more french fries.
