Corsair Dominator 1600MHz CL8 timings question

    CMP6GX3M3A1600C8
    Speed Rating: PC3-12800
    Tested Speed: 1600Mhz
    Size: 6GB Kit (3 x 2GB)
    Tested Latency: 8-8-8-24
    Tested Voltage: 1.65
    Performance Profile: XMP

    SPD Speed
    1333Mhz SPD Latency
    9-9-9-24 Package
    240pin DIMM
    Fan Included
    No
I'm using ASUS Rampage II Gene. The tested specs are 1600MHz at 8-8-8-24 but then says XMP in the end. However, the SPD is rated at 1333MHz and 9-9-9-24. Now i'm confused. Can i use 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 at 1.65V without XMP or do i strictly have to use XMP to get such clocks and timings?

I haven't got them yet but i have them ordered. I just want to prepare.

Anyone? I'm asking because OCZ Platiunum's that i had before were also totally confusing. They were advertised as 1600MHz CL7, but when i made a thorough investigation i found out they are in fact CL8 (8-8-8-24 for 1600MHz). CL7 was advertised if they were running at just 1333MHz.

That's why i'm asking if these Dominators are in fact 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 at 1.65V or not. Because if they use the same crappy method as OCZ i have no use for them if i'll end up with 9-9-9-24 for 1600MHz...

You can run the Corsair modules at their rated timings and voltage either by manually setting them or by using the XMP profile.

So basically XMP is a "noob mode", but you can manually set the timings if you know how. So, 1600MHz, 8-8-8-24 @ 1.65V. Correct? I'm asking twice because i was raped once by OCZ Platinum's which were advertised as CL7 (7-7-7-20) but were in fact CL8 (8-8-8-20). CL7 was for 1066MHz. Have no clue why they advertised it as CL7 if it's meant to be 1600MHz RAM. Heh. Plus they don't even run stable at 1.65V.

LOL.....yeah, that's one way to put it. It should work fine either way assuming the BIOS interprets the XMP info correctly AND the XMP profile is 100% compatible with that board and BIOS rev.
