    Any new 1366 chips soon?

Is Intel planning to release 32quads or cheaper 6 cores for 1366? Or will 1366 finish out as is? A $400 or less quad or hex would be great, but haven't heard of any new 1366 products coming out. Only 1156 SB until new ~2000 pin socket comes out. Anyone heard anything?

A i7 990x hex 1366 for sure (ES samples already on these forums). A rumored i7 995x hex 1366. It should bring the 970 and 980x down a few bucks but not much.

You could always grab a Xeon E5620 2.4GHz 32nm quad core provided your X58 board supports it. That's the only sub-$400 Westmere unfortunately.

I wish but it only has a 19x multi giving only 4.18G at 220bclk.

So far a 990x has been confirmed. Not sure if Intel is going to bring out anymore 1366 processors, but I think 990x is going to be the last one since Intel is going to replace 1366 with 1356 or 2011 or whatever.

So what is the actual replacement for 1366? I thought it was socket 2011, but last week I read that it's socket 1356.

1355 from what i've read and been told.. but that could just be all theory..

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

I'm not even sure to be honest, I keep hearing both 2011 and 1356, 2011 for server and 1356 for desktop. Again, more different sockets from Intel, can't keep up with them anymore. A new chipset requires a new socket, WTF.

Thanks for the replies! I am a little frustrated that there aren't 32nm quad cores with higher multiliers for fairly cheap ($300-400). Not that the 45nm chips suck by any means, but it feels like a bit of a dead end. No problem if you can afford a hexa core processor. But if not, it feels like the line up has not really changed in the last year (sub $500 chips). I like the 32nm Xeons, but the multiplier is so low on the less expensive chips, not sure my board would do well with that.

You can get 32nm SB Quad-core for under that price soon.

I don't see why nobody should go for current 32nm Quads right before SB hits the marked, unless you want to go double socket. These are expensive DP, and won't have a good price for single-socket X58.

Current 32nm 6-cores are expensive, and will remain so until AMD can compete in high end.

I probably will just wait for SB. Not much waiting left I guess.

Yeah do that. It'll be here in Jan.

You'll get a cheap unlocked 32nm Quad-core for less. These early results are suggesting that it'll perform better clock-4-clock, and will have a better OC-headrooms. So it's a good idea to wait for it, unless you wand 6-core.

Is it worth upgrading to Sandy Bridge if you already have a i7 920 type of CPU?

Even though it will be better clock for clock I'm just wondering if the PCI-express lanes will hold P67 boards back?

Will you be able to get boards that do SLI x16 x16 or 3way x16 x8 x8?

I thought 2011 was the year LGA 1356 was coming out... I didn't hear anything about it being a socket.
Signatures make my posts look huge... but I'm not humble enough to completely remove my signature, so I kept this note explaining it.
