    8C Ambients + Corsair H50 = 24608 Marks 3DMark06

    http://slappablog.wordpress.com/2010...arks-3dmark06/

Opened up the window last night and let the winter air flow:

This is single card only. The 5870 was running at 900MHz/1300MHz.

You gotta love winter. If you can, try using Vista 32bit for 3d mark 06. CPU score will be lower but total score will be quite a bit better. My thuban runs 4.5GHz on all cores through 06 with a bit of cold air through the rad and it ain't one of the best. Keep pushing it.

Mine does 4.5GHz on 17-18C ambient without a hassle. This voltage is a little bit high and not needed for that frequency, normally I run it at 1.54V.
I'm sure yours can do the same, even better. Keep pushing it! And you're using only H50...

Yeah I'm thinking of switching over to vista or win 7 for benchmarking. higher 3d and less stress loading OS. Then I can also do vantage

If i push the voltage I can get 4500MHz

muhahaha. We get some nice days to take advantage of the cold air for overclocking. Last year I was OCing on -27C ambients

I can reach that CPU speed.

However the GFX OC is a no go because I have a non-ref board. = no voltage increases. So you'll always have an advantage over me. Oh and just realized youre on crossfire too

It must be my uber cheats in all seriousness if we measured a score only by cpu score I would bench XP but since total overall score is what matters I choose vista

did things change recently? i remember that if you wanted a faster score for 06, you had to use XP not vista? and win7 was ok, but still not as good as XP

game tests carry more weight than cpu score does.

here's a perfect example I nerfed my VGA clocks to same speed as slappa now.

Also this should show that only canyon really shows any gains with VGA clocks compared to my run above

i understand the weightings of 3dmark, i just recall very clearly that vista was a drop in performance for everything, and win7 was almost back to the same levels as xp. did a service pack change things?

I would not know, I never listen to anyone, I like to verify things for myself.

    5850 I capped at 900/1300

Compare these 2 scores - the same cpu, memory, only different cards. Both results are with almost the same CPU clock, but on the first one I have used my 24/7 memory and CPU-NB clocks.

    7848 CPU score

    9573 CPU score

Is Red Valley CPU1 score on first one normal?

yes your second result has bugged cpu test for whatever reason.

More specifically your second run test 1 cpu test is wicked bugged, test 1 should always be lower than test 2.

My guess would be your ram clocks aren't stable, clocking ram really doesn't help 06 anyway.

Thanks for clarification. I'm not much into 3DMarks.
So, it seems that CPU test 2 score on second SS is normal, but the CPU Test 1 is bugged, it should be more like 100 points higher than the one on the first SS.
