ASUS shows new Sandy Bridge Mainboards

At the OC-Event (more information)in Frankfurt (Main) in Germany Asus show us their new Motherboards in a Technical Seminar. Also we have the chance to play with an Sandybridge-System, but we are not allowed to publish some scores.

But here are some news about the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme, ASUS Sabertooth P67 and the P8P67 Deluxe:

WTF? Anyone else think that Sabertooth model design looks horrible? Seriously, a giant heatsink (or more of a heat trap from the closeup view) over the WHOLE board?

    AMD FX-8350 @ 5.6GHz
    16GB of Mushkin DDR-1866 RAM (8-9-8-26-1T)
AMD 6950 with 6970 bios flash

    No benchmarks, sorry- NDA.

This screen shows the VGA.Dimm Post. You can see in the new Efi-bios if all graphiccards and mermorymodules are installed correctly.

I just wonder if there is some use to have graphics card from different vendors on the same board since NF200 chip doesn't support for multi-vendor multi-gpu cfgs.

is that a giant heatsink on the sabertooth or is it just some kind of cover made of plastic?

I think it is only for the screen.

It is only a cover and not really a heatsink.

NDA ist not my best friend

Yes, Efi is nice. Was easy to work with!

    @Origin_Unknown:

If you use a top blow fan the air circulate under the Cover and cools the parts of the motherboard. For use without a top blow fan you can install an extra fan on the cover.

How is a 16x/16x/8x happening on the PCI-E lanes? That's 2.5 times as many lanes as the P67 comes with, and an NF200 can only double the number of lanes, right?

Yeah, most likely... Does not look pretty either.
I liked their very first Sabertooth (Marine Cool) prototype, though, with a ceramic plate at the back of the board:

compared to what? let me guess, no cover and no fan right?

so basically its a plastic shroud covering the board, not a heatsink?

I still prefer Extreme-Series, Sabertooth series doesn't give a benifit for overclockers...maybe for GI's wanting to take their systems to war but still...can slobbertooth take a granade without damage?

I didn't like EFI on the first look, still it won't be that much different when it comes to overclocking...same options just a bit different to work with...needs some time to get used to but think there is nothing we can do against it.

Regarding questions to OC with LN2 - it will be the same as before...more cold, more clock, more scaling, more voltage - nothing new here

from asus' point of view it should keep un-experianced DIY'ers from bricking the board with a screwdriver

i like the sabertooth design and philosophy, but i wish it had an extended warrenty to go with the extended-life components.
