Question Swiftech new rad revision ?

So got my new mcr-420 and went to install it today and its different the the previous 6 I bought.

Matte black instead of shiny black.

Ports much smaller/smoother outside. And are couple mm shallower.

Casing different grade metal doesn't flex like old one's.

Overall its all improvements, just almost messed me up where ports different depths and i was using sli fittings to connect em.

    Anybody else encounter new rev?

Easy to tell old ports are shaped like nuts, new ones smooth and round.

It was revised a couple months ago, If I remember right it was because the matte black paint has a better finish than the glossy.

Yeah, new version also has the logo stamped in the side. Also several shipping improvments like the rad was shipped in a cloth bag inside the box and comes with their newer o-ring retained barbs and the screws in a cardboard sleeve.

Good improvments from what I could see..

Nice. Glad to see them change the fitting holes. I couldn't use one on my tech bench because the nut style holes. I wonder if anything else changed like the fin density.

    The new revision looks interesting.
I had a lot of troubles finding an adequately fat O-ring to seal the hole with a 1/2" compression fitting.

My old ones shipped with cloth bags, didn't have barbs in any of em though. Pumps did.

Screws in cardboard sleeve in both old and new.

It's the frame that impressed mr most. Complete notch up from older ones. Much more soild a lot less give or bend. Makes it much easier to mount.

I think PPCS throws the barbs in for "free" as part of the rad purchase?

    I never noticed this.

Just went and checked my 6 MCRs and all are stamped on the sides, 1 of 3 120's and 2 of my 220's (stackers) has the "nutty bung", all G1/4.

I'm sure, now that it's been brought up, Gabe might sneak in here at some point and quickly go through some of the revisions they've made over the years. . .or, maybe not.

They have been stamping a Swiftech logo for quite some time. Not sure when I bought the one I currently use but it was rather early this year. Although I will be glad to see them get rid of the glossy paint.
