why go to all the trouble of using 2 psu's when this psu is relatively cheap and a good solid unit that will probably outperform both of those used in unison.

You can find the 350W (FSP350-60PN) Fortron in sweden, the 400W (FSP400-60BNP) and the 550W (FSP550-60PLN an Aopen, manufactured by fsp too)

However here in Sweden the 350W Fortron costs more then the 530W in US
Even though the 350W maybe not are cheap is probably one of the best for its price here in sweden. But it's not the same as the one Tedinde uses that cost $19.

    same here in germany!
btw good to see that fortron has a switch for 110/220v since 110v just wouldn't cut it over here...

anyway, the cheapest 350w fortron around here is at 35 euros, equalling around $43 and that's at a very.. hm.. dubious shop (to say the least).

ok german prices from one of the big pricewatch type things:

    Fortron Source FSP300-60BT(PF) 300W ATX - 53 euros
    Fortron Source FSP300-60PN(PF) 300W ATX - 44 euros
    Fortron Source FSP350-60PN(PF) 350W ATX - 47 euros
    Fortron Source FSP400-60PFN 400W EPS 12V - 92 euros
    Fortron Source FSP460-60PFN 460W EPS 12V - 84 euros
    Fortron Source FSP550-60PLN 550W EPS 12V - 185 euros
Fortron Source FSP700-62R01 redundant psu 2x350W ATX - 279 euros
and remember.. atm the 1 euro is worth $1.25

    see, we're f***ed over here

now - i guess i speak for my european mates here aswell - if we could find a place in the us that sells that 530w fortron goodness for a nice price, like that $68 at dealsonic, and ships to europe, we all could have a nice oc-party
i'd grab 2 of em for that price!

See the image d/l in the 7th or 8th post down.

    Hope that helps.

    hmmm

Ive been using the 530W Fortron for months, it's rock solid, and handles a big load with stable rails. I'm deciding whther to mod it for a single 120mm fan..... or replace it with a Superflower 550W from Directron with the 120mm fan design. Just trying to quiet this down.

I was using the 350W Fortron with 120mm fan, was SUPER quiet, but I wanted more power, the 530 under load with temps up can get loud. But i do luv it. I may gut the 350W and use it's case/fan with the guts of the 530W for the mod. The fan will need to be on the outside of the PS case....no room in their, its all bizness.

Shipping to AUS from Canada was only $12 for me... and that was insured and everything (my old 8500LE that did 325/323 stock or whatever it was..)

$1 US = $1.27 CDN after exchange, too... so $69 for the Fortron 530w off newegg wasnt too bad..

eh - just so i get this right. where did you order? newegg or dealsonic? as you said shipping from canada to australia was only $12 - i thought newegg didn't ship internationally - and with dealsonic i'm not really sure. haven't found a piece that says either yay or nay to international shipping.
or did you order it through a friend and had whatever shop it was ship it to him and later on have him forward/ship it to you?

so a little more input is greatly appreciated! also what about taxes for that intl. shipping? i'd have to have that pack labeled as "repair return" or something like that to bypass customs over here

A comparrison of EURO/US/CDN $$ can be drawn from here.

I should write my posts a bit more straightforward sometimes... my bad 8-)

jupp. as i didn't know where you bought it from i thought maybe newegg - since that's one of the major shops around. and the canada bit got me a bit worried . i guess i was just figuring it <might> have been newegg where that piece had been bought in the first place and later on it was shipped to you via a friend. and my guess turned out to be quite right, as sjohnson just said so

nah... i did understand most of it just perfect - btw i wasn't worried about exchange rates - i know them by nature (at least atm). so that wasnt what bothered me. as i've said somewhere above, that psu should be $200+ using the european standard price and 'translating' it into dollars. pricing was never the prob. i just needed some place that has it and ships it from the us to europe.

my main concern was taxes! -
back in the days when i was ordering games from tronixweb.com, they packaged it in giftwrappers or stuff like that to make OUR customs ignore it - else i'd have to pay some additional taxes - and that could be as high as 50% of the original value (for whatever f***ing reason!).

so i was asking whether you - in down under - have the same problems with customs and what you and sjohnson did about it - if anything.

    Just ordered a 2nd 530 fortron from dealsonic.com

If you need a cheap case at the same time, you can add the 530fortron for $68 no extra shipping.

There is an all aluminum case there for $19. Yes it's cheap and junkie but still aluminum and still cheap.

    http://www.dealsonic.com/4692.html?A...268435&SID=998

Add the fortron for $68, shipping is $9.95 for both. so total $96.95

I order cases from there a lot, they are always cheap. And they do have nice one's usually good prices when you figure their cheap shipping!

thats one hell of a weird PSU-but it sure doesn't have many molexs to speak of...
for being 650 watts you'd figure it would have more.

on a side note, I just orderd my Forton 530 tonight from newegg.
I need something for my back up PC, with lots of voltages and reliable. my $7 dollar PSU isn't quite doing for a back up

(my main PC uses a Antec True Control 550 thats modded)

You would think a 650 watt PS has more on the 12v than 22amps?? Might look for reviews later, Nice thing is it's an aluminum solid case on it.

I cant seem to find any reviews on this Generic PS name. Om not gonna try it out. Cept maybe on a customers rig!!!

Next noob come is i'll charge him $100 for the 650 watt PS upgrade option!!! Just kidding!!!
