I won't divulge the price but let's just say that I find it more than acceptable considering the HD 6990 is currently going for $710 - $750. And no, it isn't $1000...

GTX580 SLi gets 84...
If that's true ... man, they really worked the way out into SLi configuration with this card ... and that really ROCKS!
Oh...your ass is grass and I've got the weed-whacker.
im liking the looks oft his card for sure. much smaller then a 6990

i dunno man people have been over-blowing the difference between AMD heat output and Nvidia heat output for a long time now. from my experience 6970's put out more heat then a GTX 570 or 580 and run about 10 degrees hotter compared to the 570's and 580's as well. So im not surprised. also it is virtually impossible for the fan on the 590 to be louder then the 6990... it's larger and uses a much more efficient design and will move more air effectively.
people kept going on about how it was impossible for Nvidia to pull it off.... now look full dual 512 shadder parts on the market tomorrow and it's smaller and probably quieter then the 6990 to boot....
what it will come down to will be the OC potential or this card. it it can get to 730ish MHZ it will beat the 6990 by a good margin provided your not running 3x30 inch monitors....

Well apparently it really is two fully enabled GF104 cores since the info sheets seem to list 512 stream procs. That surprises me a little tbh. Isn't it usually two GTX (insert generational prefix)70's on the same PCB? So I guess they are just underclocked to all hell. Only way to make it work. So two underclocked 580's on a single PCB will obviously still beat a single 580 (assuming the SLI scales properly in whichever game is being run).
So unless people only have one available PCIe x16 slot or need a lot of GPGPU power, I still don't see the point of this. And it's not simply because i just picked up a 580. I still have 2 weeks to exchange it for something else if I like. But even at 650 Euro (if that price holds)....why? I mean I picked up a Zotac GTX 580 AMP for roughly 410 Euros.
You can just get a single stock GTX 580, put a waterblock on it, and have more than 100 Euros left over to buy booze. Then you can overclock the crap out of it and not need to worry about SLI scaling (or in some cases support.....*coughcrysis2cough*). Or get a GTX 580 3GB for 40-50 Euros more, put it on water, and then have 50 Euro left over for booze.
It's been a long day, maybe I'm having a brain fart. If you're going for raw performance (with with an extra 150 Euros being irrelevant), just get two GTX 580's and clock the crap out of them. Can someone explain a reason to spend that much on two handicapped 580 cores on a single PCB (unless it's a GPGPU rig)?

Easy, almost all the sandy bridge motherboards ha support for quad sli o quad crossfire. So benchers(te people wich are targeted those cards9 are simply crazywaiting for them because is their chance to use 4 gpus in sandy bridge sytem at the moment.
As hard gamer i regonice everything beyond a pair of gtx 460 in sli is a overkill.i even consider my gtx 480 Sli a overkill already. But for benchers...those cards under water will rock a lot.
thats the reason I tend to trust HWC over other sites... their results most often line-up to my personal experiences. how did I come to this conclusion? I had two systems. one with a pair of unlocked 6950's in CFX the other with a Pair of GTX 570's in SLI. they were both in the same room running at the same time running the Heaven bench at the same settings on Auto fan speed. the GTX 570's averaged around 80-85 and the 6950's (6970's) averaged around 90-95.... all on Auto fan speed like I said and in cases with similar airflow. the AMD cards were also louder at auto fan speed while being hotter.... Testing GTX 580's using the same bench and type of setup I have seen most temps stay around 83-88...

Is there a shortage of cards for review?
