Yea, I go a little over board with prep. Ever since I saw my gtx295 freeze into a block of ice with my -30c chiller, I'm a little paranoid, lol!

Don't think it's over board . I don't get much HW, have to buy my own, so I like to be careful with it.

I used to do it something like this :

but it took me good 2 hours for a motherboard, so I started doing it differently, not fullcover eraser, just seal some gaps in sockets, the cpu,
armaflex dont have to be pretty, just no gaps in there, boards nowadays can take a bit of ice, but just dont forget to have some towels or something else to suck the water out of the air and the board as failsafe,

my board prep in this fashion now takes app 20-25min

The gpu is a GTX 580, but it's a horrible specimen...can't eek out any more performance under LN, than I can with my -30c chiller.

Today was short changed as I had a "no post" problem 3 hours into the session, so I had to breakdown and find the source....water in the dimm slots. After that dried up, and I packed everything with PJ, I started again tonight and got personal best's in almost everything. BTW, my 580 stinks...on ice... A few of my personal favs in today's LN2 session.

Nice runs! Sorry to hear about the water issue.

How did that happen when it looks like you had eraser all up in the sockets

I had shop towels stuffed in the empty dimm slots, but nothing in the occupied slots, so condensation eventually took hold. Vaseline took care of that.

Personally i prefer hot glue to stick the sinks to the VRMs. Easy removing and safe holding.

If and when i sink, i use double sided thermal tape and then hot glue gun to generally ensure things stay where they should
