only so much i can do with 2 GPU's haha. I would add my 3870 as well but I'm pushing the limit as it is with my power bill. My OCed 5870 finishes a WU about every 1min 30sec. It's a real champ
I know slaveondope has at least 2 5850's which would be more then enough to overrun my 5870 and 4850

Wow guys, good job!
I see that you guys are beating on the green camp, keep it going.
Crunch on XS
Hey guys. I have a few questions. I was wondering if it is possible to use a nvidia and ati card in the same machine for crunching. I hope there won't be any driver conflicts. I plan on using my old cards, a 3870x2 and a GTX 280... trying to get some good use out of them since they have been lying around for the past year collecting dust. I will put the 3870x2 on M@H and the GTX 280 on gpu grid or F@H. Also in case you are wondering I am going to be using a 890fx board.

It is possible to use different cards in a same system, but it will be pretty hard configure the system to run the 3870x2 on M@H and the GTX280 on GPUGRID.
However, the configuration will be far easier if you intend to run the GTX280 on F@H, if you don't mind the heat output and the power draw.
Well I noticed that under M@H settings I can choose whether I want to run it on a nvidia or ati gpu or both if present. Just having one manager makes everything easier imo. The cards actually have wc blocks on them. I might need to get a new rad for this :/. It would be quite a bit of heat output at 100 percent load. Especially if I put my 1055T on the loop for WCG. I actually have another 3870x2, but it used to give me some weird problems... not sure if it is defective. But I will test that out. Once I get the funds I will give this a try. I am positive that my TX750 would explode and my 3 x 120 rad would be overloaded. I am going to keep an eye on ebay if I can pick up a 1000-1200 watt psu for cheap.

HD3870's weren't all that high-power. You could probably get away with it if you don't have a high-clocked quad.
It should actually be easier to setup if you run GPUGRID & MW@H, since GPUGRID is nVidia-only and MW@H lets you select which coprocessors to use (it supports both CPU, ATI, & nVidia; disable CPU & nVidia so it only runs on ATI)

Celestial, i had a 4850x2 and a GTX275. on paper the gtx275 is the biggest and baddest by comparison. on the MW@H however the 4850x2 was able to complete 2 work units on 2 cores in 4minutes each. 1 WU on 1 core in 4min. the gtx275 did 1 work unit every 13minutes. i changed that nvidia number from 128 to 40000 and it went from 13min to 11. i even overclocked that gtx275 to 800mhz core and no where close to that 4850x2 =\

Here you go masterg, give this a read through;

Shadders are all you should be interested in - upping the core clock has no relevance in GPUGRID. Some down clock it for a 1-2c temp drop - doing this on my 275 just errored out wu's, luck of the draw.
Go grab EVGA Precision. You should be able to run 1458 shadder right off the bat. Let us know how you get on.

Long live LGA1366
ive already returned the GTX275. i bought it to try to match my 4850x2 in MW@H and it couldnt get anywhere near it. afterburner dragged up the shader with the core. i cant remember the shader numbers when i did but it started at 633/1400 based on ASUS specs page. i ramped it up to 800/~1580. afterburner took shader up with core clock so it was pretty dang high and barely dropped my time by 20 seconds...
ive dropped my gtx275 and only lost ~10,000points compared to my 4850x2's ~140,000

Anyone knows how many points 2x 5870 and one 5970 will average at stock clocks?
I can not run them OC'ed cause I'm already at my PSU's max limit, the whole rig is now pulling 960w from the socket. Tried to run it at max OC but then it wass pulling 1500w from the socket and I'm running with a 1000w PSU.
just got my 5830 today and its DOA doesnt detect when installed and creates artifacts all over my screens

I'm curious if there are any budget ATI cards that can be good crunchers? I know with Nvidia the GT 240 does decently in GPUGrid.

HD3800s or better, HD4800 or better, HD5800 or better, or HD6900 or better. anything under a HD5800 or below HD6900 cant run MW@H i dont know about anything under a HD4800 or HD3800

Yah it probably wouldn't be worth it, but i remember back in the day a 3600 did decently in F@H GPU.
